It's forged carbon fiber I believe.

I literally have no idea why this exists, who would buy it and what they'd use it for.

And those details.. redface
It exists for those who want or need an achingly pretty 4 door V12.

No stripes or silly painted callipers, yours for £39k.

Just have to get it out of that tight spot first...

Just picture a modern plastic tray completely obscuring a V8 engine, then imagine the same plastic tray but a bit longer. wink

Absolutely terrible colour spec, very chavvy not suited to an Aston at all. The stripes and clear rear lenses make it look too much like a Mustang from the bank.
As for the interior it looks 25 years old, not 10, even the latest Db11 is very poor for the price.
Good send off for an amazing engine though.

I’m not the biggest fan of Aston’s but I’ve always had a thing for the Rapide and I love this one, definitely on my lotto win list.

I’d definitely buy one and spec it in all black with chrome accents around the body (as seen in luxury spec BMW’s) with the wheels painted in the...normal alloy colour.

The only thing that would put me off this would be the infotainment, just looks....old and thick, I know you don’t buy a car like this for things like that but it makes a huge impression on the car, especially when travelling long distances. Who cares anyway it’s not like I’m going to win the euromillions on Friday hehe

This is a forum member's (dbzen) example - I don't find it chavvy, I cant see any resemblance to a Mustang, and the interior is quite special. We're all individuals...

I'd have one of these in a heartbeat if funds allowed. It's be a stripe-less sleeper spec but what a fantastic way to see the last of the NA V12's out.

Shame the engine's swansong is in this munter. The proportions have never looked quite right and 2001 wants its interior back.

Why are Aston trying to resuscitate the Max Power look?

I’d love one, albeit without the coloured accents.

I often think that the point of many interesting cars is that there is, in fact, no point in them on a rational level.

If objective measures were all that mattered, the automotive environment would swiftly resolve itself into very few options in each segment. There would also be fewer segments. Where’s the fun in that?

Yes...

I just don't see it's point. If you want to go fast there's many better (2 Seater) cars for 200k.

If you want to cross country with speed in comfort (aka gt) there are many better cars, the new m5 would do this for half the cost

Apart from a once a year ring lap who would want to be thrown around in the back of that?

It just seems incredibly pointless when you think about why you'd own one.

If you want a fast v12 4 Seater at that end you'd go get a gtc4 lusso
You dont really get it do you. N/A V12 British gt. Driving a new M5 in comparison is dull as sh*t. Guess you think owning any sort of older sports car is pointless too as you can just buy an *insert usual boring as fu*k german saloon here* which would do it better.

Whats with the rusty badges though?

The rusty badge is a milled carbon fibre one in place of the standard enamel one.

The problem the Rapide always had, and something I felt until I drove one, was that it answered a question that hadn't really been asked. If you wanted a comfortable, fast V12 GT car, the DB9 and Vanquish had you covered. The Rapide gave a bit more practicality and some genuine rear seats in place of the 2+2 arrangement (I've taken 6ft tall passengers in the back of my Vanquish, and I feel guilty about not giving them the phone number for a chiropractor afterward). The Lusso gets a mention, but again it's a 2+2. In the 4 door, N/A V12 GT sector, there's not many alternatives, and there never really was. There's certainly nothing available that provides the theatre and noise - the Vanquish S based exhaust system is downright naughty.

I'm lucky enough to have driven most of the Aston models in recent years, bar the DBSS as I know if I sample that particular amber nectar, it'll cost me a fortune. IMO, the Rapide AMR is one of the best cars they've ever built, and for me was probably the most fun and satisfying to drive. The amount you can lean on it, and the mechanical traction on offer is staggering, while being completely unflappable. On a track day, I'd expect it to upset quite a few smaller, lighter cars, as the amount of high speed stability on offer inspires more confidence (something evidenced when you see Millbrook lap times, many 'normal' drivers lap quicker in a Rapide S than they do a V12 Vantage S).

Sadly too few will get to experience it, to understand what it's all about. Whether it's not getting past the look, or a general dislike of Aston Martin, who knows - but the Rapide AMR is a leftfield choice of track weapon, with a soundtrack like nothing else.

Hi there,

Having seen, had a good look around and heard the car Aston Martin bought along to VMAX last weekend I have to say the AMR edition is awesome

The attention to detail is superb, the car on show (which might be the press car actually) was a great spec and the colour/stripes really worked. The interior is really nicely and very useable.

Full marks Aston, another corker
