Whilst I like the idea of a new GTV, why do we need a 600hp monster?

The appeal of the old GTV was that it was affordable - the Italian Capri if being a little unkind - but they were rivals back in the day.

This still looks like an April fool to me.

Surely Alfa need a pretty car that will sell in some volume, this looks like a wrong turn to me.

The first two pictures in the article are clearly 2 completely different cars - so something is clearly not right there - its a wind up.

Have you miss-spelt 'mumsnet.com'? If a 600bhp Italian coupe to take on the 500bhp German establishment doesn't set your pulse racing, at least some level, then you are on the wrong site.

If this is a direct competitor for the BMW 4-Series/C-Class coupe etc, then a range topping 600bhp variant is a smart move...and very Italian. It will doubtless be supported by normal models, taking engines from the Giulia.

The top picture is bloody ridiculous. Looks like it was done by a kid on his PC. There's so much wrong with it.

Tiny glasshouse.
Tiny mirrors.
Bizarre wheel arches.
Bears no resemblance to the earlier picture.

Someone is having an April Fools Day joke.
Add: Wheels are too large and not enough rubber and you basically have the design requirements for most concept cars. This obviously isn't what the car will look like when production ready.

Is that someone pointing a short pistol at the front wheel in the top pic (bottom right)?

Haha, that's a nice fantasy. Here's to Alfa building a 15k coupe. I'll have two please.

That’s a very low res/compressed image and looks nothing like the car below it confused

Looks pure rebadged 4 series in other pictures.

The two pictures bear no resemblance to each other. Way too many differences. Must be some kind of prank

It's fake. A student design project.

It was obvious immediately.

I'm utterly astounded anyone who works in motoring journalism believed it.

If I wasn’t made aware that it was an Alfa, I would have suggested it was the Maserati GranTourismo replacement (clues: body shape, window line, tail lights)....

They are both just magazine renders/photoshopped images based on the Giulia.

Can Alfa just go ahead and make this please. And keep the current Giulia QV motor in it. No hybrid rubbish.
