Does anybody have any experience with using one of these?

The Mrs is looking into doing some design work and has her eye on one of these. My macbook has photoshop that I use for photography so would be good if it is compatible with that.

It isn't anything serious yet so around £50-100 is a decent started & if it takes off maybe invest more then.

Any recommendations or an alternative to the drawing tablet?

Do you mean something like a Wacom One?

I've had a Wacom Bamboo for years. It's A6 and just a little bit too small for intricate work. I've used it with PH7 and Affinity Photo.

It takes a bit of practice to get acclimatised to the pen but once you've clicked with it, you might well find it easier and quicker, especially the latter, than a mouse or trackball.

Is there anything specific you are wondering about?

I used a Wacom Bamboo, however it can be a bit small for delicate work as Derek mentions above.

It was good though, you cannot go wrong with their range

We have had various wacom tablets and screens for many years - they are very good (the bamboo range less so as it has less precision), however they are expensive for what they are...

either look for one secondhand on ebay, or our approach now is ipads with the pencil - fantastic and they serve so many other purposes as well... also expensive, but a range of sizes does help there

Mrs wants to be able to create designs of things, not quite sure of the accuracy required but if it gets printed I wouldn't want it to look rough.

Don't have any tablets, used them, but the plan is to hook it up to a macbook pro with Photoshop. Can be made into a permanent station with monitor (id take recommendations on screens too) as I also use the Mac for photos.

I have my eye on something like this, anything to look out for when looking?

I use a Wacom Intuos Pro (small size) for photo work using Adobe CS6, initially with a Macbook Pro, and now with a Mac Pro.

For doing stuff with photos, it's been really great. I was initially worried that the "small" one would be too small, but actually found that anything larger would be more of a pain as you'd be moving your hand quite a bit to go from one side to the other. For detailed stuff, I just zoom in on the app.

I bought it in 2014, and since then, it appears (unsurprisingly) that Wacom have changed their models. As Amazon seem to use the same description for different models, I've just measured it and the overall size is 320mm x 205mm. The active area is 160mm x 100mm

I can't comment on other options as this is the only one I've tried, but if I was buying again, would likely go for the same.

Done a bit more research and it appears that Wacom is the established brand and the one to go for.

However another which keeps appearing is the Huion INSPIROY Q11K, just wondering if anybody has any experience with it or is it better to go with the Wacom

That's more or less A4 working area. That's massive for the price.

My Wacom is around A6. I sometimes find it a little small when working on an image and will go to A5 when my one stops working. The only concern is the lack of reviews.
