Keep finding myself drawn to the normal one, had to give my wifes normal ecoboost Mk7 a pre mot Italian tune up last night and I reckon its more fun than My M135i, my sons ST is way more fun, might try one and hopefully the ride is less busy and would it be as easy to live with ? at 48 will I look a tit
As for this one, sure its ace but orange is a bit lairy.
Once the initial fun of banging it though the gears and feeling the torque most things are more fun than a M135i, it drives like a fast 120d. I had one for 2 years, I'm not hating but I don't see why anyone would buy one other than as a quick commuter car.As for this one, sure its ace but orange is a bit lairy.
The ST would make a great daily whilst being a bit more of an exciting steer, if this is around 27k though that puts it in Megane 280 or Leon Cupra territory which makes it a bit of a harder sell.
I'm a big BMW fan without question but they do detach you from the driving experience too much for me. I've hankered after a Fiesta ST for a long time, but I look a big enough tit in my Cooper S at nearly 46...and I think that the Fiesta could be a bridge too far!

Don’t worry about looking a tit. I’m 49 and razz around in an Up GTi!As for this one, sure its ace but orange is a bit lairy.

Mine is an ST3 and has the PP, B+O stereo, pano roof, LED lights and is a five door ... paid £22.5k.
Knock off the 5 door premium and the panoramic roof to be similar to this car and I’d have paid £21.5k.
So if Ford don’t discount this edition, at £27k it’s a big jump up.

I'm hankering after an ST3, but waiting to see if the rumoured RS will appear next year. You don't have to be young to drive a small hot hatch. Guy near me who must be in his 60's have the new ST. Doesn't look stupid in it at all.

Well I`m 62 and mooch about in a MK2 Focus RS! and I probably look stupid but I don`t care.I'm hankering after an ST3, but waiting to see if the rumoured RS will appear next year. I don't care how much lighter those wheels claim to be (all relative anyway), they look as generically after-market as they come. They should have left the alternative bolt-pattern on them for the full effect.
If you were planning on adding the bits anyway then knock yourself out, but no-one should kid themselves for a minute that the trinkets will add value come resale time regardless.
As for age/image, an older female driving this would be uber cool. An older bloke just looks like he's hankering for a long-lost past.

Can't remember who makes them, think it might be Speedline, i.e. similar to that used on numerous competition cars. I must say I've never looked at a Clio R3T, or a Group N Evo fitted with similar wheels and thought - "that looks tacky" ;laugh:If you were planning on adding the bits anyway then knock yourself out, but no-one should kid themselves for a minute that the trinkets will add value come resale time regardless.

It's funny how the cheap, flimsy dross that most wheel manufacturers knock out for OEMs is somehow regarded as good quality, while some of the (much higher quality), aftermarket stuff they produce, often for motorsport use, is dismissed as being aftermarket tat.
They might not add loads of value, but sought-after, warranty-approved upgrades will make the car stand out and make it much easier to sell. Try selling a Megane 3 R.S. with no options on it, compared to selling one with Cup chassis, Recaro seats etc. Options can make a big difference to demand for a car.

I didn't say tacky or poor quality - I said generic, which you've kind of confirmed they are. It's an oxymoron to market a car as distinctive when they've prominently fitted it with indistinctive parts.Edited by Evercross on Thursday 11th April 09:44

On the contrary, Ford "special editions" do tend to hold their value better than the normal versions.Edited by Evercross on Thursday 11th April 09:26

Personally I'm 49 and I drive a 305bhp Focus ST mk2 that pops, bangs and spits flames.
