Another 25 bhp would set it apart from the standard car. It's not rocket science to map and turn up the boost. Maybe Ford don't fancy 3 years warranty with more boost....

If only they made an RS, wider track, flared arches, bonnet vents and 250 bhp. This looks great though.
Yes Ford have certainly missed the boat at times... hope they are back on track again, like in the Parry-Jones era

In my Ford days I actually saw that car. Looked ever better in the metal.

TGST produced a bodykit that looked the same, but would be lovely from the factory.

Sadly, Ford got burnt with the FRP... hence why it's probably not been done since.

I remember seeing the Fiesta RS Concept at a motor show. It was a bloody lovely thing, Imperial Blue is such an awesome colour

Not sure why they went down the Ford Performance naming route with the Puma, when they had the RS name ready and waiting for it, probably some politics at Ford at the time. It would have certainly helped sales

I always thought that the FRP was very expensive for the performance it offered(always liked them though). Iirc they were the same price as an Impreza Turbo at the time, and the gulf in performance was massive(granted its not all about the performance). But you can see why it was such a sales flop though for me.

It lacked power but it handled so well, the people who bought them probably owned one of the best front wheel drive cars ever made, they looked fooking amazing too.

I always enjoyed looking around them at the time at Ford shows, but I did find it hard to understand why it wasn't much quicker than the standard 1.7 Puma...because its looks suggested so much more.

It was a bit of a missed opportunity from Ford for me.

They were expensive as they were essentially built twice. Once as a Puma, then as an FRP by Tickford.

It will have been politics...

I didn't say tacky or poor quality - I said generic, which you've kind of confirmed they are. It's an oxymoron to market a car as distinctive when they've prominently fitted it with indistinctive parts.

You might say generic, others might say genuine high performance credentials. Regardless, they look better than the standard ones which, oddly, are also pretty generic - how many modern cars have diamond cut wheels with spokes that split at the end? Quite a few...

Good on you. Life is too short to worry too much about what people think. I know loads of people that feel like they should have a "grown-up" car because they're older. In that situation, the only person losing is them.

It's easy enough, but Ford obviously don't think it's a goer. No engine upgrade planned last I heard.

It did get to see the light of day in Super 1600 form at least. Think a few places still do the panels.

Have you driven a mk8 ST?

If so did you feel it needed more power?

Don’t worry about looking a tit. I’m 49 and razz around in an Up GTi!
And I’m 54 and razz around in a Swift Sport!

Maybe there should be a growing old disgracefully section of PH.
Would be perfectly happy with a ST, keep looking at R53 Cooper S and Puma's and wishing I had a bigger drive.
Wrong side of 50 and ND MX5 for now, will someone tell me if I'm not doing it right?

I am 59 and have always liked hot hatches. Most recently, I have had a series of 3 STs, one Mk 6 and 2 Mk 7s.
I don't see they have an "image", it's about as perfect a car for everything as anyone could dream of.
Since having one, I can barely be bothered to get the supercharged Mustang out of the garage and if I had to sell, I think I'd be keeping the ST.

As for this one, I really, really don't like the bland styling of the new Fiesta and even as an ST, in this bright orange (not keen on that either compared to Molten Orange), it just underlines what a very very very very very dull design it is. I could never bring myself to buy one for that reason alone.

Interesting comments on driver age. I must be doing it all wrong. I'm 68 and sadly just swapped my Elise for a Boxter because of problems getting out due to arthritis and a hip replacement. My wife has a Focus ST, great fun and necessary for taxiing the grandkids. We still have an M100 Elan after twenty years for blasts over the Yorkshire Moors to the coast on sunny days. All seems pretty normal to me. I'd be up for the Fiesta ST when the lease runs out on the Focus but we frequently need five doors.

I think it looks great, but it's a shame Ford can't do their own version of what mountune do because at least that would have warranty.

I assume the answer is no. You seem a bit of a moron so I won't engage with you in future.
