My work here is done. Actually, I’m half tempted to get a test drive!
Ironic you are "Aston Addict" and yet moan about this GLC being crap to drive compared to a hot hatch....because, all Astons are much better to drive than their contemporary rivals A little ironic, no?E65Ross said:

Ironic you are "Aston Addict" and yet moan about this GLC being crap to drive compared to a hot hatch....because, all Astons are much better to drive than their contemporary rivals A little ironic, no?I used to love the look of Astons of old, less so the new ones, but I guess that’s the way things are going. I used to like BMWs too and have owned many, now most of the range leaves me cold, it’s staggering in its ugliness.
And regarding your earlier comment about my comment: I can only go on the evidence I see around me: most of such cars as this Mercedes are driven locally around where I live by complete tw*ts, speeding through narrow streets and up hills like complete morons. Now it’s a generalization for sure, but can only go on what I see.
As for a hot hatch driving better than the Mercedes, it does, but of course it’s not the only reason to buy such a car. So factually I’m correct, it’s a better drivers car, but of course other factors come into play when you’re buying a car.
You cannot get away from the laws of physics, no matter how many people think it’s possible. That’s not to say that a part of me wouldn’t want a Lambo Urus though...

Pointless or not, it’s good to stimulate discussion, and being a free and open society, I’m entitled to express my own view, regardless of whether you think it’s pointless or not.

Stimulate discussion, yes....compare apples to oranges for the sake of it, no. It'd be like someone saying "I'm interested in buying a Bentley Continental GT" and someone saying "buy a Lotus Elise, they're much more fun to drive"....quite possibly true, but utterly pointless all the same During your 22,000+ posts, I’m sure you’ve done similar.

You are indeed.During your 22,000+ posts, I’m sure you’ve done similar.
Be prepared for folk to think you’re being deliberately obtuse though and exercise their own right in return.
You must he used to it by now

I don't know why PH embrace this stuff. There is nothing fanatical about this.
I'd rather read about so many other cars that don't get a look in before another German tank.
Thing is PH is a free site that relies on manufacturers providing press materials and access to new models as they are launched as one of its major content sources. I'd rather read about so many other cars that don't get a look in before another German tank.
Certain manufacturers and certain niches drive more new product launches than others, QED they get picked up.
Everybody slating this car here would love to have one if they got the chance, if there was a cheap lease deal for them at 400 a month zero deposit, they’d be queues full of people talking about the ‘ipads’ and chavvy nature!
I think they both look very smart, specifically the ‘Coupe’ version unlike its bigger sibling which looks ridiculous (although I’d still have one).
If I had the money, I wouldn’t buy either of them because I’d rather a C63/M4 but that doesn’t mean the cars are a disgrace to society and they’re hideous.
If anything, they look more subtle and definitely sound better than your beloved Range Rover’s/Range Rover Sport SVR’s!
A white SVR accelerated off today in Cobham and it honestly sounded like any old V8 barge with a straight through exhaust. It would sound cool and funny at first but after a while, it’s just a loud uninspiring racket, unlike the 4.0 V8 in the AMG

(Says an SQ5 owner!)

Ahh, thanks. That explains a lot. I hadn't thought of it that way. Certain manufacturers and certain niches drive more new product launches than others, QED they get picked up.

Not sure whats happening to me recently, but I'm liking big "sporty" SUVs more and more - I like this (not the coupe)
Likewise. Quite tempted with one of these (non coupe) or the new BWW X3M next year I'm not a fan of the GLC, but really like the GLE (and the older ML). With you guys - not the coupe though.
Having just swapped out of a RR vogue and into the latest c63s estate, I can’t say I’m missing the higher driving position yet. As a car that does almost everything, the c63 in estate form is epic. I did consider a fast SUV but other than the slightly raised position, I didn’t see the point in owning one over the estate. That’s just me though, each to their own.
