Cruise control. Adaptive cruise control is even better.

Only one i really would want is blue tooth to listen to Spotify.

Got my first car with it and its amazing! No cables linking up to the AUX.

My X-Type has a good array of options, but I wish the original owner had specified the sunroof, I miss having a sunroof.

Only thing I would like that wasn't available is dual zone climate. I now have a blanket in the car for whinging girlfriend.

Annoyingly, her Volvo has a strange spec which includes leather but no bottom-warmers, dual climate, but no auto lights etc.

Not specced but second hand. Much like the poster above I appear to have bought the only V70 I’ve ever seen without heated seats. Takes an age to warm up too frown yet it has an auto dimming rearview mirror, auto wipers and a cargo net confused

I've never actually bought a new car - the nearest I got was a 3 month old pre-reg!

So I can always blame someone else!

But I'm pretty pleased with my latest E90 330i as it has Bi-Xenons, split/fold rear seat, electric glass sunroof and a DAB tuner! I'll miss the heated seats on the car it replaced though, but not for a while. laugh

My 11 year old Lexus did this as standard, surprised a 4 series would not do that
My 4 series does this, and hasn't got folding mirrors (annoyingly).

I wish I'd gone for a car with adaptive suspension.

Panoramic sunroof, I insisted on it but OH said no, they are so good, let light into the cabin on the dullest days and great to have open in the nice weather

Especially now we have a Audi with a black interior it’s just a bit dull, loved the one in my leon, had it open as much as I could, especially in the winter on a crisp day, open it with the heated seats on

I always say the 3 must things are LED headlights, upgraded stereo ( I like my bass) and The pan roof

If they are all standard then I like to have heated seats and ACC
Yes. This!! I collect my first pan roof car (plus B&O and heated seats) later this month - can’t wait.

The only new car I bought, rather than leased or had as a company car, was a Forester, and I wish I'd specced the XT rather than the NA engine.

Otherwise, I'm usually in the second-hand market, so don't get to say, but I really wish more people would spec a colour, rather than black, white or one of eleventy million different shades of grey.

Also, couldn't give a monkeys about a heated glovebox and auto-dipping windscreen wipers, but a decent engine, manual 'box and glass sunroof in an estate body, please.

Auto folding mirrors on my 4 series, which would have also meant the glass moves down when I stick it in reverse.. would've helped a lot when parallel parking to prevent curbing my wheels on a few occasions!
If you leave the adjuster button always switched to the left mirror, it is a simple job to just press the down button.
Surely the correct answer is to spec auto parking?

On my wife's convertible (which coincidentally has Hogwarts parking) she sometimes wishes she had a heated steering wheel for the roof down journeys on cold days.

Interesting how many people are saying Sunroof.

Of the many cars i've had with a Sunroof i bet i've opened it less than 10 times & only opened the blind about the same number (thus meaning it had no use).

As for a Pano roof, in the wife's Q5 it creaked for the whole 4yrs we had the car & i hated it for that (was a common issue on all Audi's with a Pano roof), in my FFRR A/B i never once opened the blind or the roof in the 4mths i owned it before chucking it back at JLR.

I always thought that heated steering wheels were ridiculously unnecessary things, but after having a RR Sport as a courtesy car with one for a few weeks during the Beast From The East last year I really miss it now...

Only my current and previous car have been bought new.

On my previous BMW 135i coupe, the only thing I wished I ticked was electric seats, as after a few months into ownership, I worked out that my perfect seat position was in between two settings with the manual seats, whereas the leccy seats had a greater range of micro adjustment frown

On my current X5, I now wished I ticked the ventillated seat option, which I had done, but talked myself out of and unticked it at the last minute frown

My M240i came second hand with virtually all the boxes ticked barring the sunroof which I wasn't bothered about. I had already seen that the M235i/M240i seemed to be missing Cruise control and I had to ask the dealer before I went to test drive.

Android Auto on my Passat.

Google Maps us just way better than any built in Sat nav
Isn't this a dealer fit through a software flash? I got offered it on a car they had in stock.

My mother's M240i Cab literally came with literally every option ticked apart from elec seats. Which I thought rather odd. (was an ex demo car)

yes

The dealer I ordered my X5 with thought I was mental not speccing the pano roof.......as it would really affect trade in value of it when the time came, as no one wants one without. I do I said, I hate the bloody things, plus they are known for spontaneously exploding on the X5........so why should I fork out over a grand for something I don't want that you're only going to knock 500 quid off trade in price for when the time comes..........??

Nothing on the Touareg that I wish it had. I think pretty much the only thing you can get that it doesn't are electric seats. Useful to have but not a deal breaker, I'm the only one who drives it. Having bought it to do a 60 mile/day commute and now working from home, I wish I hadn't bought it though. That's a different thread entirely.

M135 - wish it had heated seats, bluetooth music and the extended nav screen. Apart from that, I really liked it.

When buying my BMW 240 cab i wanted a heated steering wheel so i could have the roof of in winter. According to the dealer this was only available as part of a pack which gave you a load of stuff I didn’t want, wind deflector and other stuff, and was £900. Decided against it only to find out a few months after delivery that it could of been added separately for the princely sum of £60!!!

If i can have options i wish i hadnt ordered i will include the Harmon Kardon stereo as the one in my Elise is better than this system.

I purchased my XC90 off the forecourt. It's quite a high spec (inscription pro) so pano roof, led headlights, air cooled/massage front seats, spotify built in etc.

The only option I would have liked (and if i get another in a few years i will make sure it has) is air con to the 3rd row of seats. According to my son it's 'too hot' back there

I buy exclusively in the secondhand market, so am somewhat at the mercy of what's available, but the things I consider essential are:

Auto gearbox
Climate control
Leather/heated/electric seats – not bothered about cooled
Electric/heated mirrors
Cruise, ideally active
Xenon/LED headlights
Bluetooth
Parking sensors

Things I’m indifferent about but wouldn’t pay extra for

Electric tailgate/boot
Super premium leather
Kickin’ choonz sound system
Parking camera
Auto dimming mirror
Heated steering wheel
Upgraded navigation

Things I actively avoid, even if it's a factory option

Larger alloys
Sunroof/panoramic
Sports suspension

I want the adaptive headlights on the MX-5 but you can't have them without leather and sports suspension, so I've not got them.
