Competed in saloons championships and was sold as a saloon (sorry if it’s already been mentioned)

Italian for me too. I am biased. Here’s mine in Corsica last year. Seven years in on ownership and still don’t tire of the shape.

These are wonderful looking cars. A real elegance about them.

It s got to be Italian

Should have made this one instead of rebadging old Chrysler’s........ they might still be around
I like some of their earlier designs too

They made so many important cars...
I’ve owned a few

Always loved these, particularly in yellow. Pictures are from Breadvan72's thread.

I agree with the QP series 5 and Jag XJ Series 1, both very nice.

In four-doors, I'm also quite a fan of the perfect FR proportions and flowing, rounded lines of the Mazda 929:

A vert good looking car in its day was the Vauxhall Royale. My dad replaced his XJ series 2 with a virtually new one.
Can anyone find a decent pic and post please ( I don’t know how to upload unless it’s on my device already !)
Silver if poss!!

I hate all these BMWs. I’d rather have this:

The e34 was designed by Ercole Spada, who also designed the Aston DB4 GT Zagato... it’s got pedigree in spades, restrained elegant brutal aggression. Personally I like the e38 for its restraint. I once read that if it wasn’t so common the e46 coupe would be considered the best looking car in production (at the time) for being just right.

Also like 70’s-80’s Mercs
Maser QP
70’s-80’s Ford Granada (curvy and square)
Bentley Speed 6 Mulliner
Lexus LS 460
Audi S8
Jaguar Kensington concept
Ferrari Pinin

All the really modern ones have lost elegant restraint.

These type of threads always end up with the same type of posters.

- Those who post a pic of their own car. With the mandatory precursor of 'i may be biased but...'

- Those who post up cars that don't meet the qualifying criteria at all

- Those who post a car that will no way be classified as the 'best looking' but it hasn't yet been posted so they can feel original.

- Those who post a pic and follow it up with 'close/end thread'
