Massively biased and proud of it
You have to wonder if anyone from JLR is reading this thread. A pic like this shows how gorgeous looking the XJ was. When compared to the ugly monstrosity that wears the XJ badges today, if beggars belief that the two cars hail from the same car maker.

It has to be the e39 for me (as I'm very biased!), and then, in no particular order, Jaguar XJ, Sierra Sapphire Cosworth, mk2 Granada and mk3 Cortina.
Mk3 Cortina? The Mk4 was less fussy and more handsome, surely.

If I had to have a Cortina it would be a mk4 2.3 Ghia but there's something about the American style coke bottle shape of the mk3 I like.

Still is gorgeous, this is my one, sitting on my drive looking magnificent. Sometimes I have to pinch myself in the morning when I go out the front door that it really is mine. 17 years old, used daily and a delight to look at and drive

They show us this and then bring out the Urus because everybody wants a 4x4 not a saloon. There is no justice in the world.

I agree with the QP series 5 and Jag XJ Series 1, both very nice.

In four-doors, I'm also quite a fan of the perfect FR proportions and flowing, rounded lines of the Mazda 929:

Some interesting cars here and proves of course "best looking" is indeed in the eye of the beholder.

I would counter the post saying people only use as an excuse to post their own cars by saying - of course!... If you find a car "best looking" you are highly likely (if sufficiently lucky to be able to finance) to purchase one!

Lots of cars for me which have great angles (Fisker side profile for example) but with others that do not work at all.

I do like that Duesenberg!

Does the RX-8 count as a 4 door?

Also is it me or do modern cars all just look a bit same-y? I like well-resolved individual designs that stand out as something a bit different, i.e. where the designer was bold and courageous (Fiat Multipla notwithstanding wink but at least they were clearly fearless)

No mention of the Jaguar XF which I find "best looking" in a well-resolved way (awaits "gopping mouth" comments)...

My thing is Alpina's and a couple already posted but my favourite (yes - hence I purchased one...)...

I think the Bangle-era cars really stand out (for better or worse depending on your opinion of them) and that Alpina took an already striking design and worked their magic...

And I would counter your point by saying give the same people £100k and tell them to buy the best looking 4 door saloon. I bet they would not buy the 4 door saloon they currently own.

They more than likely buy the best looking one within their budget. Not the best looking overall.
