Historically? I'd fancy a BMW M535i.

Brand new, money no object?

Bloody marvelous thing.

Hard to agree with you...it is very very high quality design work in that and it looks/flows fantastically.
Thats why there is no right or wrong on something like this, only opinions.
"horrible looking thing"

No, your opinion has no basis other than what can onlt be a "base" reaction. It is devalued by your inability to accept the quality of the design skills/creativity which would/should never allow the CX to be called "Horrible"

Now, this is "horrible looking thing"

I've been following this thread, and - finally - I can't get away from this:-

I did consider Alfa 156 / Alfa 166 / 1970's Lagonda / RR Silver Spirit / XJ40 / Alfa 159

But no.

Series I XJ6 it is.

Going by the majorities and mass generalisation hehe

Good:
Alfa Romeo
Citroen
Maserati
70's/80's Mercedes/BMW/Audi
Pre XF Jaguar

Bad:
2 doors
Hatchbacks
90's on Mercedes/BMW/Audi

Yes? Right then, good! hehe

There are other threads on this, I just checked, but 4 door saloon cars with rear wipers do exist.

perhaps, but any saloon car i ever had never had a rear wiper and most 4 door hatchbacks have a wiper or owners have them 'deleted' thinking its the cool thing to do.

my car, not the best looking car ever but distinctly saloon in shape, like about half the cars shown here!

Seriously, my shout is the Monica GT from the early 70's. Oozes class & beauty, ridiculously expensive, very few made...

That’s bloomin’ lovely. An old neighbour had a V6 in Nuvola Blue. Depreciation from new on these was meteoric IIRC.

Cheers! Yep, Nuvola iridescent is a stunning shade but I don't think it was offered on the face lift version of the 166 which did away with the droopy unhappy-looking headlights.

Another poorly resolved, overlong silhouette. Not as bad as the Fidia, but far from "best looking".
