Also: A face like a bulldog licking ps off a nettle.
My favourite was always a face like a bag full of smashed crabs...In Scotland there's the expression "been dooking (ducking) for chips".
Univerally, realistically, as the "best looking" I am thinking over of some similar previous suggestions -
They are a shorter list of cars can truly be considered closer to "the best looking ever" beyond the bmw and audi suggestions. You gotta be looking at stuff like
1960s Jaguar S type/ mk2
Maserati Quattroporte
Aston Martin Rapide
Elextra Electric 4 door
Bristol 405 4 Door Saloon
etc
Even a Morris Minor 1000 has something a bit more affectionate towards "best looking" than another dull german taxi.....
Gotta to be looking a bit further the BMW and Audi fan club ("I'm in love with my car") and put on your slightly broader / grown up hat on guys.
The list isn't limited to only cars you can afford or currently own, it was "best looking car ever".
Push the boat out - It can be something a bit more aspiration than a factory production insprised 5 series let your imagination truly fly - lol;) or, peraps not

This is my first real involvement with a thread on PH since joining.....that does seem to be a bit of a surprising (rather sad to be frank) pattern. They are a shorter list of cars can truly be considered closer to "the best looking ever" beyond the bmw and audi suggestions. I have to admit I've been at it with my very puritan "form follows function" specs. I blame my mom for it, she studied textile and industrial "design" when it was called "Formgestaltung" (the study of shape forming ) over here -- "design" came _much_ later. Think that influenced me somehow. But I am honestly curious what for you makes a Bristol 405 looks better than the e.g. the RO80 that came out a decade or so later. Not trying to win internet points, just genuinely curious.I'm not sure myself actually. On objective criteria, the Alfa 159 is good but far from ideal. Or the 4 seater Ferraris, I had totally forgot about those.
At any rate the thread question with the key bit "best looking" is really interesting. Easy to answer off the cuff, very difficult to explain.
