So after 32 pages the correct answer is....

Lots of different cars, depending on what each person likes.
And four door saloons generally aren't very good looking at all.

The E39 is a blob; it looked rubbish in 1995, and time hasn't been kind to it.

Specsavers is that way >>>>>>>>>>.
lol, the e39 and e38 are the best designed cars since sliced bread.
E39 was a blob. The last attractive 5 was the e34 with the small kidney grill

The fact is that what is good looking will depend on your era and what was in fashion. Jags were traditional sleek and had hips, BMWs were uncluttered clean designs etc.

Cars like the Mondeo went from sucked lozenge to sharper lines and modern cars are very geometric.

I think the old BMWs conform more to the modern trend for clean and unfussy hence their popularity still.

I still think the Alfa 159 is one of the best looking cars ever designed. To some extent the earlier 156 laid the foundations for that.

I have no need for 4 doors but would happily own one just for the looks.

Sliced bread is quite frankly overrated. There's sliced bread, and then there's artisanal bread made with, er, things, hand-kneaded and baked in a charcoal oven.

Best looking:

1. Aston Martin Rapide

2. Alfa quadra-doodah M3 competitor thingy

3. Mercedes CLS - always thought these just looked rather swish

I'd probably only drive the Aston myself.

One mans meat etc etc. I always thought the rapide looked awkward and as though it was a stretched coupe rather than designed from the drawing board.

The best thing since unsliced bread.

No question about it, the glorious W201.
I can understand the appeal as a package for these cars, although I really didn't like the one we had.

But visually they are bland and boring and even a bit ugly, but mostly just bland. I just can't get my head around how anyone can cite these as 'best looking'???

Wrong thread; you're looking for the "What's the most common third world taxi?" one.
