No question about it, the glorious W201.
I can understand the appeal as a package for these cars, although I really didn't like the one we had.But visually they are bland and boring and even a bit ugly, but mostly just bland. I just can't get my head around how anyone can cite these as 'best looking'???

Ugly? Certainly not.
They were a very good looking car when they were launched. Can they stand up to some of their contemporaries above, sure. Can they beat the most beautiful from history. I'd say not.
But beauty is in the eye of the beholder....and the poster's username containing 2.5-16 throws a hint as to what his eye beholds ;-)

You know they did a 4-door SC as well? One prototype with the coupe roofline and five production cars with a slight increase in roof height. Six inch stretch gave plenty of rear legroom (the coupe is a proper four seater already).https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Bitter_SC_...
Once I've got my old SC back, a Monica is next on my lottery list.
