I've had:

2 X1/9s - loved them at the time, now though I'm not sure I'd go back to one
2 Crossfires - I was actually very tempted to get a 3rd one for shed/commuting duties but mrs Iroc 'persuaded' me that it maybe wasn't the best commute car (I hate to agree, but she's right lol)
2 SLKs
2 F150 Lightnings - loved my 1st so bought a second which was better in every way and I, weirdly, didn't find as enticing
8 Camaros (and one Firebird) - I just can't help myself it seems!

Two Cerberas, four Golfs. I still check the classifieds far too often for both despite living in Oz! Just purchased an Exige though so hopefully I can move on...

I’ve always had a thing for old escorts...
6 mk4
1 mk3
1 mk6
1 mk2 Orion
I’ve now moved onto BMW e28s and on my second, which like an old escort are cheap to maintain, easy to work on and ‘pure’ to drive. Also the e28 looks great from every angle, which keeps me coming back.

I keep coming back to small BMW coupés.

Owned previously:
E30 316i coupé
E82 135i coupé
F22 M235i coupé

Dipped my toes in Porsche and C63 coupé ownership, but I find myself hankering back to BMW's small coupés, with an M2 lined up next.

Some interesting cars that people go back to.

Seems a few of us have similar tastes. Whether that is good or bad I do not know!

I was browsing eBay last night and came across my old E39 M5 for sale, which is partly what triggered this thread. I'd consider buying it back if I had the cash, but it has also been through some less than ideal changes since I sold it sadly. The full black leather has been replaced with the cheaper black and grey leather, the wheels are black and the intravee unit seems to be missing. I also doubt that any of the body work has been sorted and I bet the engine still runs a bit off.

Not cars specifically, but I have always been drawn back to BMW straight sixes ever since I had an E30 320 back in 1995.

I'm on a tight budget, but have still managed to have a few.

Since then I have had:

E34 535i manual (I'm sure I would be dead if I hadn't sold it! Moved to Ireland and €1800 road tax meant it had to go)
E34 520i manual about 15 years ago now.

and now, finally have another one, which will be staying for a while.

E46 325i manual saloon. Found it last November, it's an Irish car so no rust, has 95K miles, pretty much full service history. I'm keeping this one, luckily I have a garage and another car, so this one can just come out in the summer (also reduces the road tax hit which is €1080 for the year or €300 for 3 months)

P.S. That's not my garage, just some random supermarket car park, it just looked quite nice when I turned round to check it. cloud9

I worked my through the VAG range from a Type 2 van, then a Beetle via eight or nine Golf GTIs and a GTD, one SEAT Ibiza, two A4s to my current A8. Of all of them, my Mk2 16V is the one I'd have back in a heat beat. Alas, it seems to be no longer with us.

MGF and TFs. I've had a string of them over the past 12 years.

I've bought three new Land Rovers since 2012.

Im not sure if it's a lack of imagination or a case of better the devil you know.

Aggressive looking Golf, I approve.

I had a 16V Jetta and overall it was the best car I ever owned. No chance of owning one again so frown

I've had 3 fox bodied Mustang 5.0's. As well as 3 Jeep Cherokee Sports 4.0's.

Bullet proof vehicles and any repairs can be and was done easily by my own hands.

Many MG Rovers, although not usually the same model, so it probably doesn’t count here.

I’ve also had four Elise’s; three S1’s and one S3 which I have now, I guess this is probably the most applicable to the question!

I've had two BMW E39s.

Don't think I'll be getting another one. I love them, but they are getting old and its hard to find a decent one that isn't a money pit.

I had 6 Mondeos...
Mk2, 3x MK3 and 2x MK4....

Mainly value for money, usability and handling...

Now on my second E350 CDI... due to a hellish commute.

Am I doing it right?

Also 2x Focus MK1 and 2x C Max... very exciting, I know

Te only repeats I have had are:

2 Vectras - an SRi and a GSi (stop laughing, the latter was a very decent car)

2 R32s - a Mk 4 and a Mk 5. Both very good indeed.

4 S2000s - I think people either find them a bit meh or love 'em. I love 'em, properly under the skin for me
