BMW M cars are my weakness!

Ive owned

2 e36 M3
5 e46 M3
2 e92 M3 (currently own one)
1 F80 M3

1 e39 M5 (currently owned)
1 f10 M5

3 Z3M Coupe
2 Z3M Roadsters
1 Z4M Roadster

I've owned numerous other non M BMW cars too - I love BMW!
Such a large array of M cars to own!

Which was the best?
Id say the one I miss the most is a 2002 e46 M3, manual, coupe in Laguna Seca blue. I should have kept hold of that one.

The best example is my current e39 M5 (44k miles and utterly mint)

My favourite one overall is my current e92 M3 - Manual, good spec and in Jerez black with black leather. I never really appreciated the first e92 I had and sold it quickly but for some reason this current one gives my the most satisfaction when driving it.

My least favourite was the f80 M3 - DCT in sapphire black and orange leather. The DCT was the worst aspect and the all or nothing power delivery and overall cheap feeling was so far removed from a true M car imho.
I imagine that E46 in Laguna Seca Blue must be very rare now, don't think I have ever seen one in manual for sale, maybe a convertible SMG but nothing more.

I can imagine the E39 to be an absolute brute to drive, but the E92 must be a very athletic car overall, as it revs very high and the chassis is well tuned, no doubt that it gives the most satisfaction.

Not surprised with your comments on the F80, they seem to be too much or too little when trying to drive them, many do say that the power is difficult to control. Doesn't stop many people from buying them however.

Caterham 7 - once it’s in your blood you kind of need to have one somewhere tucked away.

Just an epic concept and experience.

Edit to add pics of mine for interest

Never really considered myself a creature of habit but looking back it seems that when I get a car in my blood..........

Worst case was in the 80's and Volvo 240 models. I can count a dozen, may have been more, ranging from DL saloons to GLT estate.

But it wasn't the first time..... Metro/Rover 100 series' the count is 5 including a rare Cabriolet one. Even at the beginning Triumph Heralds were a favourite, again there were 5.

We have had a succession of new MINIs (R50, R53 and R55), primarily driven by my wife.

I have only just gone back to another Smart Roadster after 13 years away. (...and I don't know why?) Except this one was cheap smile

Haven't had all that many cars. However, I do keep returning to Fords. I am a serial perfectionist so it does confuse me as to why I keep owning a middle of the road brand - Not the best built, and generally flawed. It must be said they handle very well, make good noises and I enjoy owning them. Had a BMW between STs and it was exceptionally competent but dull.

Before I move on to more exotic kit, my ST Estate it will get an LSD and a Mountune power hike;

Focus Mk1 1.6 Zetec 01 - owned from 2009-2014
Focus Mk2 ST3 5 door 06 - owned from 2014-2016
Focus Mk3 ST3 Estate 14 - current car

I am actually hoping to get back into a Mk1 Escort again.

Its been a while and this one will likely have a lot less rust.

RenaultSport models.

Bought a Clio 172 new back in 2003, owned a second one in 2012 which was identical in colour and spec which cost me a mere £800!

Also bought a Megane 225 new in 2006 which I still own but also bought a 225 Trophy in 2013 which I used as my daily car for nearly two years.

Think that's about it for me although if I had the space to keep one, I'd absolutely have another RS Clio!

Renaultsport Meganes, specifically the Mk3.

I've had a facelift 265, in black.

I then owned a pre facelift 250 Cup Lux, which was a fantastic daily.

I now own a Megane 250 Cup. In extreme blue, which is 1 of 18 in the UK.

I've had faster cars before and after these, but nothing has got under my skin like these french baguettes.

BMW E30.

Sat here thinking how many I've had and got to NINE and that's only including the one I sold and bought back once.

Worryingly I've been looking at them again recently. Not to buy or anything. Just looking. Yep, definitely just looking.

The only car I've had two of is the Vauxhall Omega. Both 2.5 V6 CDX saloons, one manual and one auto.

Had the auto first and it was a thirsty but comfy car and quick once moving. Even survived catching fire. A few years later I bought the manual. Better spec with leather and a car phone but pissed oil or the ticket covers so anything over 50mph resulted in plumes of smoke billowing out from under the bonnet as the oil drizzled onto the hot exhaust manifolds.

I'm embarrassed to admit I'd still like another.

To be honest the common thread for me is RWD! laugh

Fiat 125 and 132 1800ES.

Rover P6B 3500S.

MK2 Cortina, MK2 Granada Ghia, MK2 Escort RS 2000, Capri 2.8 Injection (x2), 2.8i Scorpio, Sierra Sapphire 2.0GLSi.

Mercedes 280e (W123), 190e, C280 Sport.

BMW E46 320td, E87 123d, E86 Z4 Coupe, E46 325ti, E86 Z4 (again), E91 325i, E90 330i.

RWD is getting hard to find these days though, especially if you want a manual gearbox because that basically rules Mercedes out (although my 190e was a manual) which leaves BMW pretty much the only option!

But with the next 1 Series being FWD and current BMW M models being flappy-paddle only with fake pops and bangs I may have to head back to Ford next time for a V8 Mustang. laugh

I've had three Mondeo's and three 3 series...and two Sierra's. I'd be happy to have another one of any of those again.

Definitely on my list - the 5.0 sounds delicious, burbling around. The latest Bullitt version looks fantastic too

Subaru Legacys for daily (always go back to them, on my third) and classic Minis.

I've had Caterhams, Elans (still have one), classic Alfas and still go back to Minis - they are so 'wrong' by most modern metrics but get under your skin. I guess it goes back to what you enjoyed in your youth - currently have two, a 1990 and 1967 late Mk1

Had 3 first gen MINIs and 4 Land Rover Discoverys. Usually my default go-tos.
