Who makes the best V8 NOISE?
Discussion
F1 V8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXMJCZowwwA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MuOYuuPK01I Aston Martin GT Pro / AM car
Le Mans Corvette https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iz5JoGJaHMY I heard these first hand while working at Le Mans back in 2012.
You could tell which V8 just by the tone..
High strung to the point of ear bleeding- Ferrari 458s
Baritone - The Aston Martin Vantages.
Thunderous to the point of shaking your guts and the grandstands as they went by? - Corvettes

Probably nothing stock. Something Italian eg 355?

Classic Mopar with a big cam sound lovely. Something like a 440.
Personally I prefer the sound of OHV engines vs OHC. Not sure why. But none of the Ford modular V8’s from the original 4.6 through to today’s 5.0 litre Coyote sound as good as the LS Chevy engines or even the Chrysler Hemi’s.
That said the Chevy LS engines use a different firing order to most tradition US V8’s and side by side don’t sound as good.
The Rover V8, being a 1950’s designer US OHV engine from Buick. Can actually sound very very good.
Modern Ferrari’s sound more races due to the flat plane crank. But many such engines just lack that aural excitement. Such as the TVR AJP engine. Which I personally love. But there is no denying when side by side with a Griff, they sound somewhat thin and watery.

The na C63 sounds delightful, it’s on my list of cars to own (in estate form). Practical and funThere is also something to be said about a Flathead Ford V8. They have a sound all of their own

I remember when I was a teenager and saw and heard a TVR 400SE drive past me. I was just amazed by the sound and thought I'll get one of those one day.
I bought a 350i and thought that sounded good then I got a 400SE with a sports exhaust. I've never heard a car like it. Just awesome.

My Rangey Sport is pretty special. But then it never left Solihull like this...

Something with a proper level of displacement, like a Scania V8.

Yes, the 400SE sounds good all the way from lumpy tickover to 6000+rpm. With a big valve, ported head and higher rpm cam it does anyway. The downside is there is an awful lot of noise for quite modest power really. I bought a 350i and thought that sounded good then I got a 400SE with a sports exhaust. I've never heard a car like it. Just awesome.
