Who makes the best V8 NOISE?

Definitely not "the best" V8 sound, but I never grow tired of the sound of my 5.0 Jaguar AJV8, particularly with the roof down.

Ferrari V8 from the F355

Perfect before they got too shouty and noisy - Those V8's were spine tingling good and musical.

You could tell what it was long before you saw the car.

+1 to this, they sound amazing.

That said, I don't think there's so such thing as a 'bad' sounding V8. Sure some are a bit muted, but any NA V8 with a decent exhaust sounds pretty epic.

Agreed! Love the sound of the big gruff diesel V8, combined with the ‘pooow’ on gear changes. Over here in NI they have a massive following too.

In terms of petrols, the 6.2 AMG takes some beating, and the lesser spotted Volvo/Yamaha V8 from the S80 is a gem

The E90 M3 V8 must be up there...

Personally, I love the Jaguar V8 rumble, combined with the scream of a Eaton Supercharger, a match made in heaven imo.
I won't post a link this time, because suprisingly for a car enthusiast website, Superchargers are not liked by all...

The S62 in the E39 M5 is probably one of the best V8's made. Thinking about it, I am tempted to take my vote for the S65 back as the S62 was an absolute howler at full chat, even if it (only) went to 7500rpm. Much better sounding than any of the V8's from then and probably from now.

I would like to nominate the Jensen Interceptor

I went to school in Yorkshire in the 60s/70s.

One night walking near Pool bank we heard this car start from the traffic lights which were half way up Pool Bank.

It was a still night and he shortly came passed us at a fair speed.

I was lucky enough to drive one a few years ago and I swear the grin on my face was the same on both occasions.

I also like the sound of a Stag.

And compared to the sound made by the same engine when fitted in a Dodge/Plymouth, the Jensen is very muted and muffled, but some would say thats more in keeping with its image compared to a Dodge Charger or Plymouth 'Cuda

My F-Type V8 sounds pretty special but it's mostly exhaust noise.

There's little V8 rumble and no supercharger whine.
