Jaguar really need to move on from just chucking this big v8 in a car for a fast model. They will be forced to soon when the contact with Ford runs out. The problem is the only other performance engine they have is the recently announced 3.0 ingenium hybrid thing and that won’t fit in any of Jaguars current cars
I believe that all the new Jags were designed to take the in-line Ingenium 6.It comes to something when 0-62mph in 4.3s in a two tonne plus SUV feels "strong without being rampant"...
(It's as fast as the previous gen Aston DBS, or only marginally behind a Porsche 911 996 turbo, and faster than a base 992 or any Boxster. What on earth would "rampant" feel like?)

I honestly thought this fast version had been out for a couple of years.. Really surprised to read the F-Pace itself was only released 3 years ago.. Feels like it's been out much longer.. Hmm.
I worry for Jag - you never really see the E-Pace on the road and I'm not sure of a reason you'd pick any of their other cars, except perhaps the F-Pace and obviously I-Pace, over anything German.

Come to the Netherlands! I see at least 10/day around town, and comfortably into double figures on the A2 driving to Schiphol at the end of a week. The takeup of electric cars here is higher than the UK for sure.Prinny said:

The I-Pace is the electric one. He said he never sees any E-PaceMackofthejungle said:

If you never really see the E Pace on the road I don't know where you're looking, they're everywhere.Mine only has the 180hp diesel but imho is still a great steer, so much better than the inert, stiffly sprung Q5 / X3 and dreary XC60 I test drove. Must be mega with 3 times the power although any powerful SUV is still a major compromise. Surprisingly competent off road too. As for reliability I realise that these forums favour hearsay over actual experience but no issues at all in coming up 30,000 miles. Perhaps the J part of JLR gets bad press due to the LR part? SUV wise only this or a stelvio for me.
Cheap interior, body kitted big engine special to keep sales going until mid life refresh next year. No way does it feel like a 75k car inside.
They need a hybrid high performance drive train as per cayenne/panamera e hybrid asap, this over engined v8 stuff is just so X5 4.6is from 14 years ago !!

Really valid point made in the review - a performance SUV that works on our roads because that's where the development work is done - can't be spoofed or blagged. Couldn't believe how well a standard 250d F Pace rode when I test drove one. I've absolutely had enough of run flats, so F Pace going to be in pole position when it's time to change the family wagon.
Coming back to the V8: Weird to be saying this - but not bad value at £80k...

Our roads are awash with butt ugly SUVs these days, the buying public cannot get enough of them, Personally I don't see the attraction of these bulky oversize cars. Even more pointless are these high power versions.
Like any petrol head I love a bit power, my daily drive is a 5.0 V8, and if I were in the market for a £75k 550BHP supercharged beast it would be considerably lighter and have a much lower centre of gravity, then let the fun begin !
