Shame it appears they've fitted a massive single piece of plastic where the kidney grilles normally go, like some scaled-up version of a cheap die-cast model.
OP is happy that the obvious front bonnet edge is gone, but the big single-piece grille with the bend at the top and bottom and the sticky-out bumper is the price paid. All down to crash-protection regulations dictating the minimum distance between the leading edge of the bonnet and the front of the car, to stop it slicing into pedestrians. Two different solutions to the same problem, neither good from an aesthetic point of view.

Does such a regulation exist? Audi seem to manage to run the bonnet right to the grille on the A5 as do lots of other manufacturers. WJNB said:
No worries the tasteless yob brigade will love it, thus taking the brand even further down market.
So where does one go for a classy premium saloon or sports car these days that is not as common as muck, without stigma or the social baggage that will not label you as a flash rich berk?
Just find a st one. No-one will buy those and you won't be common.... So where does one go for a classy premium saloon or sports car these days that is not as common as muck, without stigma or the social baggage that will not label you as a flash rich berk?
Or stop labelling people based on their cars?

It's more the piss poor engine choices that leave it the territory of the silver-haired gentlemen.
Is the four pot jaguar diesel that much worse than the BMW equivalent? I haven't really got much interest in either personally but they make up 90% percent of sales. The XE has a 2.0 diesel or a 2.0 petrol.

It is, but I said choices.

Oh I agree that the XE is lacking top-end engines which will discount them for some people, but that's presumably not a concern for most buyers because most buyers don't buy the top end engines. The XE has a 2.0 diesel or a 2.0 petrol.
Whether people actually do discount the 2.0 diesel lump because there isn't a halo car is another question, I suppose. Some may.

Again. I just said choice.
Yes but (unless I misunderstood) you said the poor choice leaves them in the hands of older people, which makes little sense when most young 3-series buyers are opting for a two litre diesel. If anything I'd expect elderly buyers who be more likely to opt for the larger engines. Wooda80 said:
Love it whenever they bring a new car out and it's apparently never as good as the one 20 years ago, which in turn was a travesty of the one before that.
Give it 10 years and people will be eulogising these when it's a £3000 Shed Of The Week ( That's inflation for you )
Indeed. Apparently the E46 was the best one ever made - news to me. Given the funds, I think most of us would jump at a new one - I'll have a 330i M Sport in black, a really pretty car. Everyone seemed to hate the F30, yet I drove a few and found them all very good.Give it 10 years and people will be eulogising these when it's a £3000 Shed Of The Week ( That's inflation for you )
