I agree.

I was admiring a mineral grey one parked in a car park only this morning. Just a 320d but an absolutely cracking looking car IMO.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that the bonnet design on the old one was something to do with pedestrian impact testing. Having the "soft" plastics extend further back helped prevent injury. I agree it did ruin the front of the car though.
That was my assumption for the F30 - pedestrian impact.
I have an F30, but I am not sure about 3-ers front ends since the E36. The rear ends always look great, but the fronts...

Think that grille is bad?...Our neighbour has just got this monstrosity!

Please tell me that's a Chinese imitation?
Say what you want but you can’t tell me that doesn’t look cool, in its own way.

I really like the Bentley Mulsanne, not because it’s pretty, but actually because it’s ugly, big fat fk off of a car.

I feel the same for the new 7, imagine that in 750i guise with the 520 bhp V8 bolting off....I don’t know why but I like big ugly fast cars, there’s something about them!
I like the facelifted 7 as well, it looks quite brutal and imposing, you'd need the 50i or 60i to carry the look off though not quite the same with a 30d.

Naaaah! Quite happy running my antique E90 smile it's actually starting to look refreshingly different compared to these monstrosities now, when it was boring and staid when released.

What annoys me about BMW, apart from they keep removing LED front indicators on their new models, is, they started the trend of having a signature Headlight style years ago with the angel eyes for sidelights. Which looked really good, and then as time goes on they’ve just become 2 funny shaped LEDs that could be fitted to any car with DRLs now. Even Kia has a style of DRL in the ice cube lights they fit to the higher spec models

This looked cool

This looks naff

This made me laugh and needed a bit more recognition, designed by Leepu of the Bangladeshi Motor Works.

That grill is so bad, shows that Audi didn't do a bad job with the big mouth on their cars.

I was fuelling up this morning when a new, white 3 series saloon pulled up to the pump behind me, it had a black, plastic front grill that looked cheaper and tackier than a pair of those pink Juicy Couture trousers with the word JUICY written on the arse.

Genuinely ghastly.

They'll sell millions of 'em.

I’d say it looks less sh%t than the bland wagon you drive Eric. Also drives very well indeed.
Its hardly surprising you would say that but I think I would be inclined to go with the popular vote and agree its vulgar and also think this Subaru looks better from the front (and back) than a poxy BMW derv but maybe thats just me, its also faster you loser.

How are the sales going?

Sales are wonderful thanks. Between leases I may pick a chav chariot spec B for a grand to use.

Could be a bit of a culture shock though, do they have an FM radio?

Love it whenever they bring a new car out and it's apparently never as good as the one 20 years ago, which in turn was a travesty of the one before that.
Haha...agree with this. I remember when it felt like BMW and Mercedes went mass market with the E36 and C-class alienating existing customers in favour of a new demographic. That new band are now in turn are being usurped by the tastes of a new demographic from China.

considering its a 2008 car it has more toys standard than an ultimate driving machine of that era, heated seats, cruise, dual climate control, xenons, dvd nagivation, mp3 (no really), bluetooth, electric seats w/memory, full leather - but BMW like fleecing off mugs like that monstrosity now. heck I think the lads in Bavaria were saying to each other lets design some ridiculous front end and I bet people will still buy it...while they all probably drive the nicer BMWs from times past and let the sales reps buy the new disasters on hire deals

One of the best designed 3 series.
Agree, the last two generations have been the epitome of bland for me and I've really taken to this new one for sure.
