Am I right in thinking these were Keighley Trade Centre? I vaguely recall some very poor and dodgy imports classed as "KTC cars"
Allegedly well dodgy for a long time. Keep changing their name though afaik which seems to "trick" most of the punters eg old name gets trashed on-line so new name crops up with zero bad reviews!

Keighley has a dreadful reputation for car buying, but this lot seemed Olympic level dodgy.
As others have speculated, this place is most likely a fencing operation by local drug dealers.
In sure they'll resurface somewhere else soon enough.frown

I went years ago when they were trading as KTC and felt a really bad vibe about the place. I’m really not sure how people are comfortable enough to spend their hard earned cash there!

How does the hypothetical laundering actually work? You buy cars abroad to hide costs and then “sell” them with a ludicrously high profit? Does it require stock to move or can you just kind of pretend? Why get such dodgy cars most of the time instead of just selling good stuff and keeping the rep up the backdoor all the expensive stuff.

They have been infamous for a long time. All my life I have followed the rule of never buy a car from West Yorkshire or Birmingham. It's stood me well throughout the years.

If you go right to the end you get to old bangers for less than £500.00. Not many dealerships trade in everything from newish supercars at six figure prices to bangers for a few hundred pounds. They find their sweet spot in the marked in terms of age, price and the type of car they sell and stick to it.

Maybe they supply Bradfords finest upstanding citizens with cheap unregistered/in the trade motors? biggrin

yes

I had an FTO about 12 years ago, even back then KTC/Keighley were associated with shoddy vehicles and dodgy staff.

Friend of mine travelled up from Southampton (despite the warnings) to look at an RX-7. He agreed a valuation on his MX-5 before he travelled (photos, video etc proving the condition) and he was assured the RX7 was in good condition. As it was Keighley, the 7 was literally a bodged together wreck, they changed the offer on the MX5, and then threatened that he’d have had his head kicked in if it wasn’t for the fact the salesman was on probation for assault rofl

Sometimes you CAN trust the internet hehe

They've had 2 x Cavalier Turbos up at 10k for ages... Always fancied one but not from there and not at that price.
They've been there for at least 18 months, there's a vid on You Tube of some chap walking around there, they're both in the video, was uploaded January 2018

Me too, Bradford as well. Too many well documented accounts of very shady dealers.

I bought a straight car from them when they were Keighley Trade Cars.

Ok, it was a legit shed part ex Honda Accord. I bought it for £400 with 111k miles and ran it up to 162k in two years with very few problems.

I used it to deliver curry on the side. Fabulous motor.

Which side, nearside or offside and how did you get the curry to stay on the side without it getting spilt?

What did you do, hang the curry out of the windows in bags?
That car has a colourful MOT history

It's a nightmare buying around here. You need to write off (no pun intended) pretty much anything within a 15 mile radius when searching online. I recon 90% of dealer listed cars around here have an undesirable past or hidden issues. Many are write offs fixed, superficially, with parts off stolen cars (but left with underlaying chassis damage).

It used to be the case that a £1000 car would be a bit of a gamble but 10k would almost guarantee you a straight honest car. But now the scumbags have moved up the ladder and you are more likely to be stung on a £20k car.

Buying a VAG model from Keighley or Bradford is like going bareback with a crack head prossie, I'd be astounded if you didn't regret it.

Ah KTC

Even 10 years ago when I was into the Evo scene everyone knew not to touch anything from them, regardless of how encouraging the price was

I guess sometime around 2010-2011 I drove from Aberdeen to see a Starlet GT Advance they had advertised for a reasonable price and looked good from the pics, it also had Volk Racing alloys which was a nice bonus.

Anyway everything arranged with salesman so drive down, arrive there and see a police car next to the entrance and wandered why, find the section of Starlets but the one I had called about wasn’t there and just a space where it should have been.
I found a salesman and asked him where it was explaining I had called and driven down from Aberdeen and he calmly said ‘oh yeah it was pinched last night’ which I assumed actually meant ‘oh yeah we sold that last night to some mug’...
He then tried desperately to sell me another starlet they just got in which had the worst body kit I have ever seen, I wanted a standard one anyway but this thing was just screwed on and gaps everywhere etc so just told him where to shove it and drove home.

Was mighty pissed off at the time but after some research when I got home I realised it was actually a very lucky escape!

I should have really done this before but naively assumed as they appeared to be a big dealer it would be legit... lesson learned that day!

I hope the drive wasn't too bad so the journey wasn't a total waste.

Amazing they have these advertised though. I guess you could trace the history via Lamborghini themselves.

No it wasn't that bad, was nice weather and a mate had joined me for the trip down.

I ended up getting a nice Starlet GT with the quad headlights a couple weeks later which turned out decent down in Dunblane, so didn't have to travel so far either!
That was a fun little car until all the local chavs started buying them, until then nobody knew what it was!
