I've had a 200 non-cup for 2 years and it's bloody brilliant. Brakes, suspension, handling, engine all superb! My other toy is an 05 WRX with PPP so has around 260hp but the Clio would leave it for dead in every situation except 0 to 60. Get one while you can!

Should have bought another 182 Trophy wink

Better track car the 200. Trophy vastly better road car imo.
Trophy is a total waste of money to buy for the track -
If your going mk2 then 172 Cup > All on the track in terms of value for money & spares...

But a 200 + mods is a great car & also more refined as a daily--

Nice cars but no where near as good as my previous 106 rallye. Engine never felt like it particularly enjoyed being revved (compared to rallye anyway), throttle response wasn't brilliant and the gear shift didn't like being rushed. The chassis was great though (non cup) but again not as involving as the 106.

Desperate to try one of these, at the moment I sprint a 172cup which has managed a fair few class wins, I can see they are a fair bit more powerful and a fair bit more heavy anybody had both and like to comment?
I've had 172, 182Cup and 197 Cup. Straight line performance felt very similar, the 197 maybe a little faster at the top end of the rev range. The gearing is silly low in the 197 (slightly higher 6th in the 200) . Handling and braking are markedly better in the later car but that element of throttle adjustability on the earlier cars is much reduced. Personally to go for a flat out blast or track day the 197/200 is more fun and faster point to point but the 182 feels better set up for the road (I've had loads of different quick cars and for me the 182 Cup suspension is one of the best set ups for British B roads I've encountered) and is also more comfy and far more economical. I couldn't live with the later car as a daily it's strengths then become it's weaknesses. A friend of mine has had pukka works Clio Cup cars in both shapes and the 197 was much quicker - was taking big scalps every race (M3s, Leon works racer etc) and finished with loads of class wins.

My 182 was without doubt the best pound for pound drivers car i've ever owned. 84k miles and never once let me down despite being tracked often and used daily. Kept it 4.5 years and still regret selling it. (For a mini GP1- which was utter crap by the way).

Id have another Clio in a heartbeat if i could find one that was ruined by a spotty little oikbag haha

Congrats ! You just bought yourself the best car in the world. My 2010 201 has over 80.000 miles now and i will never sell it. Most rewarding car i have ever driven, it still makes me wonder why i bought the Megane 280.

I confess... I have never washed the radiator support in the 3 years I've owned it... shame on me.

Crap awful build quality and reliability. Awful traction control that was borderline dangerous that had to be turned off at the start of every journey. My Clio gave me 84k of almost faultless miles and 4.5 years of ownership. The only casualty in that time was a coilpack and a Uego sensor. The mini on the otherhand was a 26k mile minter. Yet after just 18 months of onership resembled something akin to "triggers broom" I replaced what felt like almost all of it. I never buy cheap parts but even OEM BMW parts would fail relentlessly. Brakes, dampers, bushes, engine mounts, thermostat, rad fan controller, timing chain tensioner, topmounts, the list is vast. Even the standard JCW stainless exhaust fell to pieces in that time and the standard "crap mild steel Clio" one was solid after 70k miles!

The GP was fun on track, had bags of torque and character but as a vehicle to own and run it was truly awful. #
And i'll be honest, it didnt drive as well as the 182. I attempted to make the Mini the car i wanted, with Bilstein PSS10 dampers, AP brakes and a few other nice parts, but the reality was it was never as good as the humble Renaultsport.

I sold it, dont miss it one bit and has put me off owning another Mini product ever.

Yet even though I've moved to arguably much better things, i still pine for another Clio if i could find a good one.

Yeah i was surprised how squeaky the dash is in ours , bearing in mind the mini was a expensive car new .

Steering feedback is rubbish compared to my clio's and my puma but the mini does feel very stable , almost like i can't really feel what's happening but i 90% trust it's just going to grip.

The way it put's down the power is very different as well the clio above 4.5k it shifts but the mini is quite linear doesn't have the drama of speed despite having loads more torque than the clio .

To be honest the mini feels quite like my old bmw 325 , grunty heavy and stable .

Looks a well kept example.

GW with the Gloss Black Speedlines go so well. Enjoy.

I've often thought about chopping in my current car for some N/A rev hungry goodness, but i'am well used to turbo torque.

A few years ago after driving a Ferrari 348 ( yes i know ) i got into my Mini Cooper D for a drive, guess what, the Mini felt like ten times easier and better to drive than that 348 😂. So a few months later i bought my brandnew 2010 Clio RS with the sportchassis. I loved the way my driveway looked with the blue Mini and white Clio parked next to each other, both joyfull and fun cars. But it soon came clear to my mind that the Mini was no match to the Clio at all. Realising i payed the same amount of money for both and no matter how much i loved that Mini, i had to let it go.
Sold it and bought a fresh seconhand big Renault Laguna diesel and was left with some sparenmoney for a nice holiday ( not really, money went to the daughters studies).
At that time my doctor had a JCW and that car was horrible, samenthings as you describe but probably a bit worse. Actually everything broke down on that car.

The rad support is a common fault to rust, my 200 hasn't suffered fortunately but it's definitely not down to poor ownership and is a well documented fault.

Was looking at a golf R having just sold my Evora S and Range rover to go to one car after using the money for my business.

Now seriously considering the 200- an absolute steal of a car and never heard a bad word! It's not like the hyper hatches have rave reviews about reliability anyway.

Best car i've had (and miss) was my mechanically set up 306 rallye. I'm hoping this might serve as quality do-it-all fun at a depreciation proof price.

Had two of these. Traded my 197 in for an Elise S. Six months later, I traded the Elise in for a 200. Kept the 200 for four years. One of the best driver’s cars ever made. Went all over Europe in it. Loved it.

Gorgeous spec op cloud9

I have a 197 F1 and I bloody love it. My only gripe was the recaros sit way too high, however I’ve fitted a set of custom mounts today and it’s allowed me to lower the seating position by 50mm. Car now feels completely different ergonomically!

I have a white 200 cup.
Poor build quality, but it’s an incredible car. The handling is fun, and the feedback is amazing.
