The big profit is in servicing classics
+1 My ex boss had his DB6 serviced recently and it cost him £30K, I think he's done about 1K miles since the last one too.I know they say a fool and his money are easily parted, but seriously, are there really that many people out there willing to fork out that amount of money for something you can't even drive on the road ???
Really - I would love to introduce them to my distant cousin who used to be a general in the Nigerian army and needs a bank account......

I can imagine that there are some infantile sad sacks that would want this car...but not how they would be capable of earning enough to pay for it.

Small wonder Works is putting such emphasis on making sure it is as close to the original as possible.
Hmmmmm........why is it fitted with chrome wires then Snubs said:
What gets me is that, with the exception of the smoke machine, nothing else does what it says on the tin. They aren't machine guns, it isn't an ejector seat and it isn't an oil slick. I fully understand why they're imitation and spending £25 on a toy with imitation everything, fine. But spending £2,500,000 and it's still imitation everything? Nope.

You're looking at this from the perspective of a non-rich person. I mean proper rich.Really - I would love to introduce them to my distant cousin who used to be a general in the Nigerian army and needs a bank account......
To you and me, £2.5m is a lot of money but the simple fact is that for a very small portion of the world's population it's a drop in the well. Less than a day's earnings.
When you have that much disposable cash, you can afford to drop £2.5m on a car just to look at and play with and not think anything of it.
I think it's monumentally cool and if I was a multi-billionaire I'd have one stored in my underground car compound, to use on my private track whilst pretending to out-run Asian henchmen in Mercedes', in a heartbeat
A forum for car enthusiasts, the majority moaning about how OTT this is. A needless exercise, in making one of their most iconic cars, trying to recreate details from a film, but somehow it's OTT? Or most likely envy at those who can afford to throw money at a car that won't be road legal, just like most track specials are not road worthy, but still get snapped up by people who can afford them, even if it is just to sit in a heated garage. Yes it's pointless, and that's makes it even better. Well done to the people making and buying these, and not falling into the boring SUV/hybrid market. Lets see more of these batsh*t crazy cars.

When I was ten I probably would have thought this was really cool. I am not ten though and it comes across as really childish. Clearly there are enough man-childs with lots of money out there to make it worth producing. Esceptico said:

Of course, those with with the means to buy these have to be half witted man children, that's exactly how they got in a position to do it... My point about envy being the problem stands true with that post.To be honest that does nothing for me at all. If they wanted to cock about with them I’d much rather see them build a roadable version using modern tech a bit like a singer or whatever.
Who wants a machine gun that does nothing? Or an oil sprayer that offers a fine mist of water? Or an ejector seat that just wobbles about a bit? The whole point of Bond was that it was fantasy, impossible, tongue in cheek and amusing.
This is just a toothless tiger.
