Pity you can't have the dealer prosecuted for attempted deception.

To be fair to the dealer, there may be an official repair instruction (there was at Citroen with DV6’s and their leaky fuel injectors which deposited carbon all around the engine’s oil galleries) that if the turbo may be compromised by a blocked oil supply, the engine was to be replaced.

Either way-would you want to offer a warranty on the work unless a belts & braces approach is taken?

If the dealership just replaced the turbo which then started whistling away in six months time due to being starved of oil, you can guarantee the OP/their relative would be in there moaning it was defective.

Good news that a new turbo appears to have resolved the issue, and has got the car running again.

If it where me I would be worried something else damaged in the process will later catch up with it. However it doesn't appear the cars owner is a worrier. Hopefully it gives sufficient service till the pcp is over and it's handed back. Maybe you could post the reg some any diligent buyer could avoid it! ;)

It's not on the list. I presume it has atleast had the oil level topped up. But certainly as a minimum it should now have an oil change and filter. As well as any other grossly outstanding safety critical service items carried out.

To be fair, they’re nine grand up so far
