A LEG plate. Ace.

Looks great MDMA!
Thought it was a good match for the car. Only £250 all in.

The MB bike system is very good. In fact, we dropped the bikes off at Islabikes for a service (if anyone's familiar with the brand) and the chap there said that it's the best that he's seen in terms of design, functionality and simplicity. They're reassuringly stable up to silly speeds.

We were just as packed on the way back, though not in the cab, to the relief of the occupants!

Brilliant use of a E Class estate. 4 bikes up top, a boot full of luggage and a bonus point for artwork.
Brucie bonus for a clutter-free cabin? smile

Yup :-)
Son looks happy, daughter, not so much smile
They were messing with me!

Trying to work out if that’s a Thule system or something different.

These are the photos from the ad of the two most recently purchased. I suspect that it's an MB proprietory system.

Great day out at Steeleford car show yesterday. Still shiny too which is handy as off to Caffeine and Machine on wednesday evening.

Spotted that amongst the Alpinas present tonight - looked lovely.

Similar to a Thule, but not a rebadge.
Interesting. Missing from my life.

The current prices are about £60 each for the bike racks.

Here is a set of roof racks and two bike racks for £199

I'd want to check part numbers and condition before purchase.

Just tightened the bars up ready for touring mode.

Looking good as ever.

I'm new to roof stuff. Will any old roof bars fit on the Legacy or are they model specific?

The Legacy uses a fixed point system, so as long as you get the foot pack to suit, you can use a few different bars.
I've got Thule 3018 fixed point foot pack, Thule 753 rapid fit system and Thule 108 Wingbar EVO. Just need to pick up 2 ProRide system bike carriers at some point this coming week and it'll be all set up.

Not a great pic, and a bit embarrassing, but on going to the Caffeine and Machine last night the beardy bloke in charge promptly told me to park right in front of the building...

Nice! I loved that place - kind of wish it could get franchised to different parts of the country! I managed to get front parking as well but was cheating as it was at an Alpine sponsored event!

You should be honoured McGee, more interesting than 90% of the stuff that is there generally! I'd be walking past the Golf R, RS3, 911 straight to your car. I had the same with the Alfa, directed right under the logo, got a lot of attention.

Franchised though? It's just a pub. Anyone can do it!

I've had them both and they're both good systems.

Currently using Thule but only because I wanted to replace the MB roof bars a few years ago and there was a deal at the time which made the Thule bars & racks comparatively cheap.

Great pic. If I'd been there I'd have made a beeline for your car. I have a minor fixation with Alpina's.

That would be a certain Jack Windsor, he takes great photos too! And very much appreciates cool cars.
