I think that key is that the job of polish is to fill in the swirls in lacquer that cause cobwebbing (unless it's a mild abrasive).
well, all i know is it is multi-stage and takes a lot of effort... as well as tons of other materials, compounds, tools, techniques...I deployed all the above, hence “paint correction”
It’s all relative. If chap above is happy then so am I.

Any F31 340i Touring owners on this forum willing to share their experience of their car? I'm looking at one potentially, wanted to get an idea of how you rate the size, driving dynamics and the "fun" aspect that someone who's coming from a hot hatch (JB4 GTI) would get out of one as a daily driver.
Seems there are quite a few of us based on the last few pages I was in a similar position, coming from smaller hot hatches and sports cars but family needs dictated something bigger. The 340i fits that brief without being huge.
Make no mistake, I don't consider it "fun" relative to a small hot hatch or two-seater, but it performs its duties with about as much entertainment as you can expect from a two-tonne estate and isn't as dull in hand as an Audi, but equally not as much theatre as an AMG. Mine is the LCI which is muted by the OPF, perhaps a bit more noise from the pre-LCI would address this.
When I hop in the wife's 130i for short journeys that car brings on a grin as it is genuinely fun to pedal. You have to view the 340i in the context of all the many other things it does so well or you could be disappointed - for longer journeys and general family duties it absolutely sings and there's not a lot else I would consider.

I'd want to know from the 340i lads etc, why they'd opt for a fast smaller sized estate for family duties, rather than a 5/E sized estate?
Because unless you’ve got 3 kids, a 3 series touring is more than enough space, the one time of the year you need a bit more you can use a roof rack, the middle seat or just pack less. joshcowin said:

Ok, whatever you say!
I also don’t need someone to refill my washer fluid or pump up my tires.

This thread has cost me more money! After making a real mistake with an impulse purchase on a little hot hatch which I hated (Clio RS 18) I've just put a holding deposit on an M340i Touring. The car I should have bout a couple of months ago but talked myself into something the better half may drive.
Truth is she has no real interest in driving so a healthy wagon my way comes! Not sure on the specific blue but think it's Tanzanite over Ivory White leather. Pics when I get her!

I’ve never understood why people buy an estate car and then nearly always have a roof box What are you carrying that necessitates such carrying capacity.
When my 2 kids were babies we used to drive around in a BMW 3 series convertible. Car seats, buggies. luggage, the lot. We've always been light packers, but I do know a fair few people who take far too much on holiday with themHowever I've got a roof box, this was when we (family of 4) found we like going camping a lot which means a fair amount of gear - tent, beds, tables, sleeping bags, chairs, ice box, food, etc etc, plus often taking our paddle boards.
We also have a dog, so he takes up space as well now. So despite having a big boot already, it's still really useful to have an extra 4-500 litres capacity I can stick on the roof, once in a while.
I also don't like filling every nook and cranny of the car when travelling, packing it up to the ceiling with stuff, so sitting in an A6 is it's still a pleasant place to drive and be driven about, and I like being able to see out the back window.
Our trip to France this year we're not camping, so we won't need to roof box at all.

I was very impressed, the bars are fantastic and fit so well. I was very worried about them slipping and scratching the car but I certainly couldn't get them to move.
I have the same. Yakima and Thule. Absolutely rock solid.I’m confident that the vast majority of ‘roofbox fails’, like bikeracks, is poor fitment by the user. Perhaps the sort of user that thinks cable ties are a substitute for good fitment…
If fitted properly i have zero concerns about failure at speed.

What’s happened to my thread!!
Quick, someone post an RS6 so I may wash this derv invasion from my eyes.
Good grief, needs some work doesn’t it. I can’t provide you with a 6, so here’s a 4 and I’ll owe you the 2.Quick, someone post an RS6 so I may wash this derv invasion from my eyes.
Currently in storage with a friend as five years after moving in my shabby driveways finally being replaced. The 190 in the background has gone and been replaced with a Polo Gti for wife duties.
