A few shots of my ZTT260. Sadly sold on to a collector in Belgium who flew to Finland and drove it home. Made a decent profit on it at least. Great car though.

Really like the C8 in Daytona Grey, great colour!

I'd still pick the Vorsprung edition in Mythos Black or Nardo with Vossen wheels.

I really like the look of that, especially on the standard 19" wheels (correct me if I'm wrong) - I don't think I've seen one on non "upgraded" alloys.

The RS6 both C7 and C8 versions are so much more aggressive-looking than the E63-quite why no flared rear arches is beyond me. Having owned both C7 and now E63S, imho the Audi is the better day to day ride, more 'planted' and the one to take on a long journey plus it looks more aggressive......for an exciting drive, aggression on tap and superb handling (for a 2-ton barge)....E63S by a significant margin. Also has vague Q car looks as some people will think it's an E250d for example. Then they find out the hard way when it blows them into the weeds!

How does the C7 Rs6 compare for noise to the E63S? I assume the E63 is better sounding, mainly as the turbos are in the V. However I have heard the facelift C63 and the current E63 aren't as loud as the pre facelift w205 C63 (as seen a few posts up with the red one) due to a change in noise regs around 2017/18.

I've driven a Pre facelift w205 C63 and it was a nice noise but it didn't have the sports exhaust, so hunting for one with that option.

I have an Audi now but I want my next car to sound awesome (without any exhaust mods) so going with a w205 pre facelift. I'll miss the AWD alot but having a switchable exhaust is extremely appealing (wife/family setting and a driving on my own windows down setting) smile

I only have room for one car and I have a Doberman so estate or SUV are my only two options.

I am ashamed to admit I did test drive an X3 M40i yesterday, but that just reaffirmed my preference of an estate over anything else.
M340i Tourer is the perfect "do everything" car IMO, would have bought one myself but I feel they've still got a fair amount of depreciation to do so (ironically) the C63 will cost less to own overall at least in my situation from the deal I got.
As a M340i touring owner, I can't help but feel a touch jealous everytime I hear a C63. Mine might have better traction in the wet, get better mpg, and have a better interior (IMO), but I often think I should have gone for a C63 instead for the noise and feeling more of an event.

I've had 4 Audi Rs products (V10 RS6, V8 RS6 x2, V6 RS5). All have either had aftermarket Milltek or sports exhaust. If you were to get an older RS (such as B8 RS4/5) than they will sound brilliant. Failing that the cheapest option would be to have existing exhaust cut up and modified by PCW Mods (for example). Brilliant cars in their own right but sound isnt that great frankly hence why I changed the exhausts.
AMG out of the box is amazing (A45 exempt-some would disagree but I hates that car and the sound wasn't all that). Exhaust and engine note is an AMG USP. The latest versions all suffer from emissions regulations but thats the same for any car. Mine is a 2019 so it escapes that (2021 was when it caught up to E63) and sounds fantastic. You can get third parties exhausts but that would be at the risk of too loud and the new 'noise cameras' are coming in so just be aware of that. For sheer aggressive noise I dont think you can beat a pre facelift C63 or similar frankly and thats stock. They are just an angry sounding car. on AMG its the 'Performance Exhaust' that you want. Luckily on my car it comes as stock.
If you want AWD go for an earlier RS (B8 apparently had a titanium exhaust option) or buy one already fitted? The RS6 with a non res Milltek is a monster sound.

Swapsies? I agree with all of the above, I guess it really comes down to what you want out of the car. I see the C63 as more of a phase than a car I'd keep forever even though I do love it. M340i I see as a Swiss army knife of a car without the compromises of the C63 (economy, gearbox around town and ride quality- it also has a boat load of camber on the front wheels so it doesn't flow down a motorway in the same way a big wafter does)

I've found there's not a lot of information on cars without the AMG performance exhaust, on my W205 C63 it's not actually valved as far as I can tell so I'd love to see the two side by side to see if the performance exhaust is any quieter than mine when in comfort mode as that would help. It's not overly loud just always "there"....I have got Miltek rear silencers due any day now so will have to see if that makes it drone on the motorway. I think you can also fit the valve aftermarket for about £700 too. I've heard a facelift C63 with the OPF filters and it's very poor. For me the only reason why you would have this over the other options is because of the engine/exhaust note.

New cars have the filters plus soft rev limiters etc. AMG of old were great sounding but not the best handling and I could never get on with their cockpits/operating systems. Millions of pointless buttons. Pretty unruly as well and I never understood people adding tons of power tuning into a RWD car. One of the best compliments I can give on my E63S is that it drives like its 'alive' and moves around underneath you and reminds me of my previous M3 Competition which was a brilliantly handling car. Shame the current design rules it out for me as no matter how many times I see 'the grille' I cant get my head around it.

Big thanks for such a great reply!

I think the C63 is right for me, I'm not looking for a car that is great on the limit but rather something that sounds nice and is an event even when driving normally. It will be good for family duties (*young kids) yet not annoyingly large like an Rs6/7. I don't do many miles so don't care much about fuel costs and I just want something that will make me smile at normal pace and also when I'm driving solo and really want to open it up a bit.

I did consider an Rs4 but I need 4 doors so its an avant and they are c63 money but the tech/interior etc is a gen behind. (I have a B8 S4 so it also would just be the same as what I have now just inside with a better sound and much worse MPG).

I'm a fiend for that look so when I first laid eyes it was definitely a draw smile

I'm not sold on the rear badges just yet but maybe it'll be different in the flesh. I've seen a few with black exhaust tips that look quite smart too.

E63 is AWD, they call it 4Matic+
I have a mapped C43 with the same system and the AMG performance seats.
I keep looking at E63 as well but cannot find a face lift estate with those seats.
I'd recommend prefacelift E63S with the AMG seats like this one;

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202109207...

Facelifts get a nicer dash but don't seem to get the AMG seats and are much quieter
