How does this compare to a C7 RS6?

Source: Current C7 RS6 owner...
I doubt there is a huge amount in it on the road. There are a few vids online and the E63S does appear to have the edge, however in the real world it would probably be very hard to separate them. I think the RS6’s run low 7’s to 100mph.

I wanted a RS6 a few yrs ago, but couldn’t afford the performance model I wanted at the time, so sacked it off. Anyway this time round (with more cash) my wife thought I was mad for wanting the merc and told me to just grab a C7 - however after a quick browse around I found the RS6 hadn’t aged well inside and I was drawn to the merc. The RS6 is still fab and looks more aggressive, but overall at the £60-70k price point the merc had it hands down for me...
I've had two C7 RS6's and my car before was a 65 plate one with fiull ceramics. Absolutely love them and they look a lot more aggressive than the E63S. They will also feel more planted and steady and probably be the more comfier drive on a long haul than the E63S.
Thats where the good parts end am afraid. The power on the E63S knocks the C7 out of the park. Thats before we get to the handling....no contest am afraid. As you can see from the dyno and the Race option results the C7 would have to be tuned to match those figures. The C7 also is dated inside now-the AMG is a tech fest (bit too much to be honest) and the sound? Have to stick a non res Milltek on to match it. And all this is stock out of the box.
Sorry to say but all the videos show the facts and thats me as a serial Audi RS owner. They are brilliant in their own right but the C7 does not behave or perform or handle as well as the E63S.
This sums it up very well:

I'm in an XF R-S, it's bloody rapid once moving but can't compete with that off the line speed, would love to lose a roll off from 30 and see what the difference really is.

As the jag is a little older there isn’t much comparing them online - the only jag vid I remember was the E63s against the project 8.

Just finished this journey (beer in hand now) and it takes a lot of self restraint with the right foot. A squeeze of the throttle from cruise speeds sees 3 figures and it just wants to go…

Love it so far, did that journey in one go with no stops - seats are incredibly comfy. Glad I opted for the sports seats over the performance…
I did a very restrained test on a longer run with adaptive cruise set to 70mph recently. Managed to get 30.2 mpg which isn't too shabby but my previous C7 could get to those rough figures easier I think and the in-cylinder shutoff happened more frequently. Also I think theres less tyre noise and its generally more comfortable in the Audi on longer runs. As stated the AMG is the better car though (and most reviews put it ahead of the current C8 RS6) and a lot more exciting to drive.
Economy isnt a consideration when buying these cars but at a time when fuel prices are stupidly high we need all the help we can get.
Major gripe is the size of the fuel tank-66 litres! wtf. C7 RS6 it's 75 and that makes a difference. Not sure why it's so small.

In relation to the size of the fuel tank, I wonder whether a 'touring capacity' can be specified or whether they aim for a rough target of tank range to remain within the expectations of their customers.

Nope afraid not-no option for a bigger tank. Over here in UK we also don't have the options that are available in the US market like heated steering wheel, ventilated and massaging seats plus some very nice backlit tweeters that rotate out of the front door speaker. No idea why-they're options on the M5 for sure.

Thanks for the thoughts. I have to say that the Merc wasn't really on my radar, I'd always wanted an RS6 and the right one came up and the rest is history as they say.

I don't find the tech to be dated but I guess I've no comparison...I certainly like less of the touch screens in the C8. I do agree too that the RS6 looks much more aggressive, I think it knocks the Merc out of the park in that respect.

I’ve just come back the other way on this trip and had a much better journey. No stop and start traffic which clearly murders economy…

As you’ve said fuel consumption isn’t a major consideration when buying 600hp car, but it’s nice to know it’s not terrible when you settle down on the motorway.

Bit harsh. Whilst not seriously fast a well driven cooper S of any guise will show a lot of cars on this thread a pair of clean hills on a B road.

Nice car - congrats. Whilst my E63s is currently flavour of the month, we also have a Cooper SE which is great fun!

Which would be a different thread title all together…most well driven cars of that nature would show a lot of cars a clean set of heels on a B road. So maybe a little harsh, but accurate smile

It’s a fast estate on a twisty road, so still qualifies for me. The thread title doesn’t state where and how it needs to be fast wink

Which engine op, is it the 306hp 2.0 T?
