Yeah the tech itself is actually fairly simple but the cost of diagnosing problems can be annoying and of course the components cost more than basic springs and dampers.
I can confirm that when the thing isn't pumping itself up properly, the ride is hard as hell! AC43 said:
Nice garage, btw - that Elise looks fantastic.
Cheers - I've had an estate car ever since I bought the Lotus, one makes the other possible!stevemcs said:
I wouldn't touch anything from VAG, even though the S6 is a great car.
I don't really have strong feelings about VAG - Audis are usually handsome looking things with nice interiors, but they tend to ride not so well and be a bit forgettable to drive. Never owned one. Last one I drove was an A4 with the tiny little turbo engine, and it left no memorable impression at all. Why wouldn't you touch them?stevemcs said:

Loads of S4 Avants. A few A4 3.0 TSI. A handful of RS6s.
I know that the extensive load space in the RS6 is particularly useful for carrying wheelbarrow loads of £20 notes to the garage, and I'm a bit wary that they may be too nickable. I'm just not sure I want one enough to stomach the running costs, and wonder how compromised they are from a comfort point of view compared to a lesser A6.
Not sure about the S4. Quick, but not engaging - well, I don't really mind that, the E class is not engaging, but possibly hard ride and poor rear legroom? What I want is something that soothes long motorway journeys, doesn't rattle my teeth out on urban potholes and speed humps and makes A road overtakes effortless. Still, I like superchargers and V6s.

Good to see some positive responses on the E43. I was expecting to get the usual it’s not a real AMG comments.
I’m pretty chuffed with it and like the fact it’s discrete. Had a couple of people ask me why I’ve put amg badges on a diesel which makes me smile.
If anything, I'd remove the badges. I’m pretty chuffed with it and like the fact it’s discrete. Had a couple of people ask me why I’ve put amg badges on a diesel which makes me smile.

Unable to match some of the fast estates on here, here is my 2018 E43 that I picked up a few weeks ago.
Not sure it qualifies for this thread, 400 bhp and 4 wheel drive so no where near some of the fast estates on here.
Only on Pistonheads could this sentence ever appear:Not sure it qualifies for this thread, 400 bhp and 4 wheel drive so no where near some of the fast estates on here.
"Not sure it qualifies for this thread, 400 bhp"
A 400bhp AMG is still faster than probably 99% of cars you see on the road and way beyond what the average person deems fast. It's very clearly suitable for this thread!

Couple of chaps have the E63 S estate. Just wondering if there is actually a faster (factory) estate than that?
Nearly.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8MQTE5uOoU
But not quite.
