Unable to match some of the fast estates on here, here is my 2018 E43 that I picked up a few weeks ago.
Not sure it qualifies for this thread, 400 bhp and 4 wheel drive so no where near some of the fast estates on here.
Only on Pistonheads could this sentence ever appear:Not sure it qualifies for this thread, 400 bhp and 4 wheel drive so no where near some of the fast estates on here.
"Not sure it qualifies for this thread, 400 bhp"
Apart from the more modern drivetrain, the biggest thing the 213's have over the 212's is the 21st centure dash. Once I'd sat in my mate's 213, my COMAND screen looked like something out of the arc. I had to treat myself to an Android makeover. Integrated Automotive IMI 1000.
This is stock shot but you get the idea. It looks so much better and, sounds great and is just extremely useful.

Fully loaded with dogs, kids, & luggage today for a trip to lakes. Normal driving (I.e not trying to be especially economical) and managed 38.5mpg. Magic this thing.
I absolutely love the 3er estate, in my opinion the best balanced car in BMWs lineup. How does it absolve the family duties with 2 children?

Must admit, I’m finding it hard to look past the 335d touring. Looking at the C350e as a petrol alternative, but finding it hard to get excited about a two litre petrol 4, even one with an electric motor strapped to it. Some reviews say that the engine is uncouth when exercised.cayman-black said:
I like that, very nice!
Thank you. I'm very pleased with it (I also have a bit of a thing for fast estates). I haven't driven it very much yet, because I've been away for the last couple of weeks (hence the late response to your message), but it seems to be ticking all the boxes so far. Very usable.RZ1 said:

If you ever fancy a weekend swap let me know. I have a long history of lending my CLS to other PHers...if you ever wish to swap whilst I go skiing in France, I don't have to sell my CLS. The only reason it is going - I need awd. Otherwise, I love my car.
In terms of qualifying for this thread, in real world driving, rather than a drag race (which I'd lose in the wet anyway), yours will be as fast as mine due to the awd and newer tech.
The 5.5 litre twin turbo V8 in mine is so, so good though. Endlessly entertaining. If only it was all wheel drive!!

I’m based in south Bucks and happy to discuss the dates of your ski trips off thread.

A friend of a friend who had a 5.5 E63 for a long time, and now has a 4.0, agrees with you. He doesn't really rate the new engine compared to the old one, reckons it makes it more 'just a car' albeit a very good, very fast one. I am coming around to the idea of trying another E63 with that engine after being burned last time. It's such a pain they've all gone up in price!

I'm from Virginia Water in Surrey, and Mum is still there, so suspect that isn't too far from you.
Thanks for the offer - have a genuine one in return. Chat off thread!

The RS6 would have been more bloody useful in icy Alpine weather though. I bought the CLS before we had kids, and thus used to fly to France...
That said mine has been almost faultless apart from consumables (it did need new brake lines last year, apparently a common fault). Just sailed through an MOT today, and its next assignment wil be taking me and some colleagues to the British GP!

What is the MPG like on the .4.0 vs 5.5?
I imagine that part was a good step forward as its smaller and alot more modern? Of course MPG isn't a key thing with these cars but having a car which can on a run eek out an OK mpg (above 30) is always nice.
My MPG isn't great on the 5.5TT. In town, low teens, even with stop start. One of the reasons we use an electric car for short runs. On a run, if you behave, late twenties. A lot better than the NA 6.2, but not as good as the 4.0TT I believe. I imagine that part was a good step forward as its smaller and alot more modern? My average is around 21 according to the display, but every time I drive it I have to sit in London traffic for at least 45 minutes to get to the M25, so that makes it pretty bad.

Thanks both, excellent back to back notes
The 4.0 seems alot better really, 35 is actually amazing and an upgrade for me on my 3.0 V6 supercharged which never gets past 31 and is around low 20's mostly.
it's pretty astounding given the performance. Mine is remapped to 625bhp also, which is approx the standard 5.5TT output IIRC?The 4.0 seems alot better really, 35 is actually amazing and an upgrade for me on my 3.0 V6 supercharged which never gets past 31 and is around low 20's mostly.
