Tired all the time - how do I turn it around?
Discussion
Morning all
I'm tired. All the bloody time. It's also my birthday tomorrow and I turn 35. Maybe the two are connected, I don't know.
I'm a touch overweight, I probably drink too much (but a heavy session is like 3 pints - more just too times in a week) and am asleep for probably 11pm max, as I get up at 6;30. Sometimes earlier, but never later.
In a desperate sense to avoid acknowledging my mortality - how the hell do I turn this around?
Maybe I just have the birthday blues. Bah.

Write out a typical week's food intake and quantities. I strongly suspect you'll have the answer to your problem right there, particularly so if most of the list are processed carbs.I'm tired. Ask your GP for a full blood panel.
This, are you also urinating a lot? Away from that, potential diabetes with frequent urination and tiredness, although I don't think that involves a blood panel as a usual course, just a blood glucose test.
Thanks for the replies all.
I don't drink enough water, for sure, so sorted that out today. Peeing like a racehorse currently (well, not literally currently but often) which is pretty unusual for me. Not concerned about Type 1 Diabetes as I don't get that thirsty.
Did a couple of hours of gardening and housework - no gym-replacement but got off my arse. Also started work on the "lose the dadbod" thing, too. Trying not to go too extreme on everything straight away which will inevitably see me getting bored and quitting.
I think it's a combo of weight, fitness and hydration. Potentially crappy sleep too, so looking to make some changes there too.
The low testosterone thing - what gives that away? not sure its likely but who knows.

Google it for symptoms but it's things like tiredness, aching, brain fog, low sex drive, depression, irritability. Would need a blood test to confirm and you need to request it specifically as it is not included in a regular blood test. If you're going to get one anyway to rule out other things, no harm in asking gp to add on testosterone to the checklistYou're not alone OP. I don't have answers but am trying to follow some of the advice given by other posters about diet and exercise.
I think my biggest problem is poor quality sleep. Either I have a couple of drinks to help me nod off or if I don't then I lie awake thinking about stuff.
Usually ending up in the spare room with one or other child doesn't help either as they toss and turn and kick all night.
I've now set an alarm to go to bed no later than 11pm and hope that sticking to a routine (including getting up on time at the weekend) might help.
42 and about two stone overweight btw.

Quick update:
- Drinking way more water;
- Eating much more healthy, less carbs, more protein
- Started the gym (and have actually gone!);
- Taking a berroca-type thing in my newfound water bottle each day
- Trying to get better sleep (less falling asleep on the sofa).
Can't say I'm noticeably "better" but I deffo don't feel my energy has gotten worse, so I'm potentially in a transition phase before this becomes more of a routine.

Tired, thirsty, frequent urination, points towards T1 diabetes.
Anyway worth seeing the doc.
If it was type 1 diabetes you would know way before you turn 35 as its an autoimmune disorder where your immune system attacks the pancreas and destroys it in early childhood meaning you cannot produce insulin.Anyway worth seeing the doc.
OP is more likely to have type 2 diabetes. Agreed he should ask for the HbA1c test at his GP's even to rule it out. Also OP ask for a urine dip to rule out any infection of your urinary system.
