TBH, 4 pot engine was the biggest reason why i didn't buy a 968 few years ago.
I was a really big fan of the 968 and I really liked the shape/car overall. But I was another one that felt disappointed(rightly or wrongly) that it was only a 4 cylinder(even though the capacity wasn't too bad).

The cheapest new 330D is about £38.5k list price. Can you think of anything which cost the same in 2003 as it does now? The average pint was £1.95. Get with the times, grandad hehe

Indeed - the truth is that the Boxster is actually “cheaper” than before too!

The 330d is probably more interesting than the Boxster actually since the enormous discounts definitely skew the playing field.

Back in 03 circa 29k was a decent price OTR for one of those. I wonder how much you’d get one for now?

Interesting thread. To the chap who loved his 718 sound, I can echo that with my experience of the turbo'd 991.2 C2. Having owned a 997 back in 2005 and been addicted to the engine sound at full chat, I was a little worried about how the 991 would deliver the same excitement. Perhaps it's an age thing, but I need not have worried. The car is outstanding and I would not change anything.

But both your Carreras are 6 cylinders whereas the point regarding the 718 is that the 4 cylinder engine sounds crap compared to the former 6, which it certainly does.

The Mercedes SLC is ancient, as is the Nissan 370Z (although I might actually choose the 370Z anyway).

Is the F-Type the only real alternative?
Isn’t the entry F Type 2.0l 4 pot as well?
