I was going to suggest that 900HP in a Mondeo would be impossible...but then I considered that the 2.5T is essentially the same as the Focus RS, or at least close enough that the RS block should fit and there are reports of >900hp on those!
It might be possible, but not for 25k. There is a well known Focus RS Mk2 up here with a tuned 2.5 engine. Over 1000bhp was achieved but reputedly at a cost of... 110 grand.

Depends what you mean by faster.

My stage 1 Cupra has around the same power to weight. It would lose in a standing start drag but around a track it should win in most situations. Given the Nurburgring difference is only 4 seconds.

500bhp and circa 1300kg

I owned similar and it cost me £10k a few years ago
This looks awesome. How much do you think it might go for?

What are they like to drive?

The M5 power to weight ratio is 300bhp per tonne. I think plenty of tuned cars will improve on that figure for way under 25k. Isn't a tuned Golf R the answer to this question?

I don't see the point though, it's FWD and while I'm not one to blanket state RWD good, FWD bad that's *way* too much power for the front wheels alone to handle. Same issue with pretty much anything else that isn't already pretty expensive, they're all fwd.
not this again, if you have 900hp going through 2 wheels at the front or the back it will be a handful if you can only treat the throttle like an on/off switch. Once rolling along 900hp will go through front or rear wheels just the same.

With £25k you could build a beast of a LS based car, say £15k on a LS2 based VXR8 plus £10k on a Supercharger/turbo & supporting mods should see you pushing 700hp and into the 11sec 1/4 territory as per a a 2018 M5.

A FWD with 900 hp is not going to be beating an M5 anywhere other than a straight line though is it? Unless of course that is the only criteria, to beat an M5 in the TLGP.

If you can't use it then it's pointless.

I have a Mondeo 2.5T and with "only" 217hp it'll get seriously scrabbly at times as it is and will (if you turn the traction control off and drive it like a ham footed oaf) understeer like a vectra driven by Clarkson.

I would not want ~700hp *more*. While there isn't a hp limit as per se for a FWD in a straight line, about 250-300hp is probably about right for anything you want to handle before it you end up with something that will just end up power understeering everywhere.

If you want more go RWD or AWD.

This will only get out of hand, the original question is can you go faster than a M5 for £25k not a M5 that has the same upgrades.

Didn’t the F10 M5 run 122mph 11.2 second 1/4 mile times and speeds?

How about a W211 E55 AMG with a smaller pulley and remap. No more than 15k in for a good one.
I was thinking exactly the same thing, even a re-map on the 5.5 supercharged engine sees 540bhp so pulleys as well and you'd be over that of the M5.

Admittedly a lot more 'old school' than the F10 but if you're talking sheer BHP that would do it.

Easiest that comes to mind is a remapped C6 RS6, 700hp+ easily with a Stage 1 remap will beat an F10 M5 from a dig and roll quite easily
