'Tend to' but there are now plenty of '4-door coupes'. Merc, Audi, BMW, etc....
And as a say, the definition of coupe is fixed roof/sloping back.

Traditionally, it should be a 3-seater!

"According to the Society of Automotive Engineers, a coupe is defined as being a fixed roof vehicle with a sloping rear, that has an interior space of less than 33 cubic feet"

Their definition. I couldn't give a st! I've had coupes with 2, 3 and 4 doors.

Yeah you're definitely giving off the 'don't give a st' vibe "According to the Society of Automotive Engineers, a coupe is defined as being a fixed roof vehicle with a sloping rear, that has an interior space of less than 33 cubic feet"
Based on that definition, we agree this isn't a coupe then?
No, the definition of a coupe is "cut" in French. And it was first used in to name a product/thing in the 1600's, a shallow sloping glass that people drank champagne out of. It changed in our dictionary in time when someone decided the idea of that would be a good way to describe the shape of a car. It's all just marketing anyway.
The number of doors is absolutely irrelevant given it's an appropriated term. The only difference is wether you live in the 1960's or 2019.

First time it was used to describe a vehicle it was a horse drawn cart for 2 passengers, not a car.The number of doors is absolutely irrelevant given it's an appropriated term. The only difference is wether you live in the 1960's or 2019.
Anyway, this big thing looks pretty ridiculous, will no doubt be a very good mode of transporting people around, and looks very little like what most people would call a coupe, not that it matters.
Seem reasonable?

It seems reasonable when we can agree it doesn't matter.Anyway, this big thing looks pretty ridiculous, will no doubt be a very good mode of transporting people around, and looks very little like what most people would call a coupe, not that it matters.

I love that big ridiculous looking thing. Think it's beautiful. I like it even more knowing it gets people so bent out of shape too

Oooh, a climate change denialist? Cool! I thought you were all dead or had moved onto shouting "BREXIT OR DEATH" or blaming Muslims for everything by now?
Somehow, it's comforting to know they still exist - it's sort of like Internet archaeology.
What a sneering, condescending and ignorant comment for no reason. Worse than the person you quoted. You must be an acquaintance of fellow PH forum know-it-all Ares .Somehow, it's comforting to know they still exist - it's sort of like Internet archaeology.

Carbon roof on an SUV
Coupe with 4 doors
PRICELESS - it will sell well
SUVs by their design aren't as dynamic as a saloon. That's physics. Porsche try to make whatever sort of car they're building to be the most sporty in its class. Having a lighter roof won't do it any harm.... So what's wrong with it exactly? Would you rather the roof be made of granite? Coupe with 4 doors
PRICELESS - it will sell well

SAE? Ah, an American society so they’ll also call a bonnet a hood and a boot a trunk "According to the Society of Automotive Engineers, a coupe is defined as being a fixed roof vehicle with a sloping rear, that has an interior space of less than 33 cubic feet"
A coupe isn’t a pile of st SUV with half the roof cut off to make it look sporty. The monstrosity in question might attract a title in my eyes of “sport” (and I use the term in the loosest sense) back or a hatchback but it’s NOT a coupe ffs.
Nor is a 4 door saloon a coupe, it’s a saloon. If it’s got an extended rake rear boot guess what it’s a hatchback.
The only reason morons get caught up in the “coupe” tag line is because it’s a way to market a dull and relatively average car. Bit like the X6 really.
