Looked like it was hitting 1.5g in the corners. That's some damn fancy rubber at work I'd say.

My 275 Cup S with Ohlins and ark exhaust. Point to point and round that point I've been in nothing faster and more compliant. Still got to get confident with my Clubsport S. Renault total respect but i hope your build quality has improved.

The car is more powerful because it has less weight. The engine itself is unchanged. :-)
The car is no more powerful, because the engine which is unchanged, is inside the car.

From what I can see. Carbon wheel. CC brakes, Sabelt carbon seats and harness. Rear seats retained. I reckon that it'll be £45k. Man that is expensive!!!

Impressive stuff, It’ll be seriously limited numbers, pure track toy. They only imported 30 RHD Trophy R’s last time after the R26.R couldn’t be sold so I’d be surprised if this is different. Would rather see it in Volcanic Orange though.

‘What’s the point’ everyone whines, because they can, so we should all be glad they have.

Looks a really cool car. Would be interested to see an actual production Civic fk8 post an actual time around the 'Ring as it is clearly way off what is actually required to get such a time if this list of expensive mods and weight loss is what it has taken the Megane. It would put things more in perspective.

Most quick ones seem to be around 8mins and only VW and Renault have managed to match the ""alleged" Honda time with their stripped out hot hatches.

Clever car, but doesn’t really do much for me. This whole ring war is a little bit dull. What’s it like in the rain on bumpy back roads?

Truly impressive company around the 7 min 40 mark. What amazes me is that the Alfa Romeo Gulia is even quicker !!!
Yes the Alfa ( a pre production one with 100kg removed) is just about quicker (a regular production won't be)
Nope, the production version of the Giulia set a 7.32 in 2016.

Not that impressive, unsure how much faster Ring is this year but it is quicker, stickier tyres, no doubt stick a track focused suspension, stickier tyres and shed 100 kilo the Civic would be quicker, not that I'm the slightest bit bothered biggrinbiggrin

Spoken like a true butt hurt Honda owner....of course it’s impressive, only a buffoon would think otherwise.

Really pleased for Renault. Yes it will be expensive but any car of this elk is no longer affordable is it. Look at the type R! Also the type R that got the ring record was heavily tweaked and far from normal. This will be the same car for sale to the public. Renaultsport are still the kings of this game, take note everyone! 👌🏼

You’re right! Another player in the road legal track tyres market then.

Don't Renault usually have Michelin develope tyres specifically for their R.S models?

I expect this to be running the new Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R that the GT2 RS is using to break lap records left right and center.

I think I read somewhere that Renault dropped the rear steer for saving weight. Now that would be funny considering how much they boasted about it.

I love Renault sport but am I alone in here not finding this time impressive? Having gone to that extend (carbon wheels, ohlins, sticky tyres, plastic windows, ceramic brakes etc) just to lap 3 seconds quicker than the Japanese counterpart can not be celebrated as success. Unless we are at that point of diminishing returns..

Not bothered about ring times but just a thought. What I truly found impressive though was the driving, some quality being demonstrated here..

I've no doubt Honda as we speak are sourcing a suitable pair of white socks and loafers and coaxing this chap out of retirement to reclaim the record
