Soon to be seen with the obligatory OO07 *** registration number.
I saw an old shape DBS with the plate something like BON 4D....I don't think it was exactly but very close....it was a nice car but I must admit I did think "sad tt" hehe

The model above....I think a number plate would help hide the massive grill, but it looks lovely otherwise, aside the hideous (IMO) wheels.

I doubt I will be in the market for one any time soon but I like it except for .....................

Those awful wheels, they really are contenders for the category of the "worst wheels on a production car ever"

Er, or not.
Or used as a type of construction technology.
Or not, in this case.
So, other than the colour, what really links this abomination with the DBS in OHMSS?
I can’t wait for the next model to have a tenuous link with Bond....
Are you expecting it to weigh 1200kg? It's a 2+2, luxury GT car, clad with the highest quality leather with a twin turbo V12 (this is important, because the mass of plumbing associated with turbos and intercoolers mean it'll never be as light as N/A engine). It weighs slightly more than an 812SF, and yet on the road would have no trouble keeping up with it, because it has a usable operating window below 7000rpm. Very few cars of this physical size, can be hustled and cover ground so quickly. It's a truly outstanding GT car that can do everything, really well.

The name Superleggera is a nod to Aston's heritage - it never tried to be a superlight, stripped out special. If you're wanting a superlight, stripped out car, the Valkyrie, AM-RB003 and Vanquish Vision Concept are a better bet I'd expect.

You miss my point, I was questioning why call it something that is ‘a nod’ to heritage and suggests it is, as the name suggests, super light (compared to a ‘standard’ version, even if it is 200kg or whatever)
Why not all it the DBS Frank Bruno, as its a heavyweight bruiser then or the counterpoint, the Barry “is like to thank my manager, Barnett Eastwood” McGuigan is you think it’s a lightweight
Both have as much relevance to a Bond film as this car ... 😜

Kinda liking that I have to say. Of course they are milking the Bond connection. I mean come on, how long before we get the McLaren Lauda ?

Wheels are way too fussy IMO, love the grill.

The film would be spoken of as one of the best had it been made with Connery, but Lazenby just didn’t have the X-factor required.

I'm as much of a Bond fan as the next man but I wonder when AM will stop feeling the need to monetise this particular connection. Never understood why any grown person would consider it cool to drive around in a 'Bond car' that is anything but. Seems pretty juvenile and IMO 'de-premiums' the brand.
The colour isn’t different, it’s the same. I saw it in the factory a few weeks back.

A hat stand in a kilt would have made a more convincing Bond than Lazenby. Did the film actually have a plot ?

I suppose if it helps AM sell 50 SL then all well and good but just no chance Mr Bond would drive a car with wheels straight from Kahn Vehicular Design hehe

Shouldn't it be +4407 for the overseas market?
And I'd want proper wheels not forged ones.

Must be a trick of the light then, or my cataract op has gone wrong. To me the new car looks considerably browner than the old one.

My eyes are the same as yours, although with careful lighting you can get it to look close:

Close, but no cigar.

Looks like a Pistonheads grin.

biggrin

With extra chinnyness.

And the wheels. Those wheels. What the heck are those wheels?

It’s a massive no from me and parking it next to the old boy only highlights that “too much” isn’t always “just right”

I bought a DB9 the other year and was picked up from the airport by the dealer in the standard version of whatever this is. I preferred the DB9 because it felt like a proper Aston Martin.

Sadly it had been damaged and badly repaired so I had to send it back (credit to Aston dealership for being true gentlemen in the matter) but although I’m sure these new ones are “better” they don’t excite me.
