I was indeed the dark blue E92 M3. Gutted as I’ve done absolutely everything possible in terms of maintenance, quite literally thousands spent. Ah well. Cars!

Sorry to hear about the rod troubles! I've had my fair share too...My track car's clutch exploded last time I took it on track at Oulton... this time I was there statically with another car in the show area, but got home to find a major oil leak spewing out onto my garage floor.... (probably a good job that car didn't go on track!) banghead

Still, what a glorious day it was! Agree with the previous comments that combining the SS and a TD definitely gives it an extra dimension, and would love to do a similar event again (especially when it's only 3 miles away hehe ) It was nice to see the mix of static show ponys and tasty track metal being well-used! Kudos to the guy in the Mondeo too driving

There were some very interesting modded cars too - who else spotted the Honda powered 205 and the 2 Cortinas running, respectively, a Pinto on twin Weber 45s and an unidentified DOHC turbo? What was especially nice in the case of a lot of the classic cars was to see them being owned by young people - maybe we don't have to worry after all about older cars making their way into a new generation. And who else spotted the unicorn 70s Honda Accord? When chatting to the owner of that, he said to me "I wanted something different that no-one else would have at a show"... mission accomplished there! rotate

Here's a few random shots I took throughout the day - like previous posters, I really struggled with the low sun and long shadows!

Oh and I want to publicly thank the chap who quickly *made* me a valve tool to do back up my leaky valve. Absolute legend and a credit to the motorsport community. Cheers again dude!!

Agree; an amazing day!

Sunshine at Oulton, impressive variety of excellent cars, a really relaxed and fun atmosphere with great people smile

Great day in the 987 spyder - took my mate out on track for the first time in his new Bentley Conti GT speed but sadly it cooked it’s brakes after 2 laps - but then it does weigh 2.3 tonnes 😬 ! He’s now looking at a track car lol !

Can only imagine how you felt. I was behind you in the CLS when you had to pull over.

That was a great day out. The taster sessions were a really good idea and I'd like to see more - Donington please.

I agree, the format works really well. It is fantastic to see all different cars both parked up and in action around the track.

Just as an update, my block appears to be intact and it is looking likely that the bottom end might not be what's let go. Hard to believe considering the noises it was making.

I was really struggling with brake temperature so I was taking it a bit easier on the lap it happened too, lots of lifting and coasting else I'd have got past the 911 spraying liquid all over the place!

Who now owns the mk3 mr2 2zz? (I spoke to you a few times with my wife in the pits)

Did you find out the issue with the engine?

I missed the Chevette as well, but the photos aren't loading for me at the moment so I'll have to look again when they're back and see if it's one I recognise. I didn't get there until about 2pm, though.

Hiya mate, yeah looks like a spun bearing or 2. Managed to limp it offsite and get recovered by Greenflag. Already sourced a replacing engine.

Good to speak with you both.

Car was flying as well pushing out a 2:04 lap just before it gave up...

A question around laptimes. I’ve never done Oulton in a car before, but am pretty experienced round there on a bike. I was amazed at the difference in times. On my bike I run around the 1:47-49 mark consistently, best I managed in the car was a 2’07. I have to admit it felt quite sedate as well with my foot to floor and just willing the car on to go faster.

What’s a decent time in a decent car? I was in the (baby st) yellow M4 for reference.

That'll be why I couldn't find you in the afternoon! Hope you manage to get it sorted and back out again soon, looked fantastic.

I've just seen the review and I like how my 3d printed oil cap made it to the highlight reel, not a picture of my supra but of my oil cap

Made it in work on Friday morning and only had the bonnet open for about an hour to see if anyone noticed it.

It was a great day and a great mix of cars on track.

good to speak to you too mate, gutted about your car but glad to see you'll be fixed soon. 2:04 is a respectable lap time I wouldn't mind a go in a 2zz rather than my cheap and cheerful 1zz.

For reference I’ve seen an experienced driver in an M3 CSL with cup tyres on run a 1.58 with more to come. 2mins is quick, I’d say 2.04 is rapid for a first time out

Ok, cheers. Like I said, I know my way round, so should have been doing decent(ish)times, although wasn’t prepared to push my luck too much in my one and only car.
