My B9 RS4 was timed at 3.3s to 60mph at Rockingham. RS5 perhaps a tad quicker as lighter? Imho though the M5 Comp will duck under 3s to 60mph (gets to 100mph in 6.6s) with the same engined M8 not far behind given the larger mass.

TX.
Believe the M8 will be lighter than the M5.
Evo mag have it as 100kg heavier.

TX.
The full tech specs haven't been released yet. The M850i is 80 kg heavier than the M550i (as per BMW website), so that gives some kind of guide as to what to expect.

Drop £120k (rrp anyway) and sit with the great unwashed at your local BMW garage when it comes to service time?

No thanks.

Porsche, Bentley or Aston spring to mind.

More importantly it’s completely irrelevant. My local BMW dealership collect the car from my house and return it, seems to be the case whether it’s an MOT or a big service.

Extremely meh and samey looking as every other BMW nowadays.
I have put in bold "nowadays", because, and please forgive me if I'm interpreting this incorrectly, it seems to suggest that the fact they all look samey is something new, and was not the case before. Either you are quite young, or you have no recollection of BMWs pre-Bangle era....?

Looks great from most angles except from the rear. That bumper design is terrible!

I do like the 8 series but the pricing is insane, and the wheels are horrible (as are all competition wheels) if this were £50-60k it'd interest me, but there's so much better for the price.

I saw a new 8 series convertible tonight, dark blue, on a Hampshire plate (of all things). Stunning.

It's a fat bd.

Might as well buy a Kenworth, slap on a few thousand horsepower, and pretend that THAT is the pinnacle of sports...

No doubt will appeal to the nerdy, goofy type 'needing' 600hp to sit in ever increasing jams and continuously lower speed limits.
Ridiculous doesn't even come close.
189mph max?? Should have been rounded off to 200 at least and been done with it.
Perfect Ph post, it's too powerful, it's too slow, Sir I salute you smile

I am a bmw boy but, please, give me a beautiful, well-thought 911 for this kind of money.

Not disputing there are other more desirable options at the price, but a decently specced 320d xDrive is knocking on £50k.

The whole E31 8 series was a sales disaster. Not sure why, probably cost. Yes, the "proper" 8 series that everyone on here seems to fawn over on any new 8 series thread was a sales flop.

Go figure.
