The exterior looks ace, the pleasing arc of the roof line in particular.

Love the flush door handles. The exhausts appear to be quite the dog's aren't they.

Delightful quilted pattern on the seats.

I mean... there's lots to like, here. I just wonder how often it will visit the dealership. One of those "not for me, but I'm glad it exists" sort of things.

This was one of NC's better efforts I think. It was actually quite readable.

As for the car, I'm biased toward its F Pace sister but I wouldn't say no to this. I don't think even the price is outrageous.

Lovely.

Got given one of the higher-powered diesels whilst the Disco Sport was in for its second DPF the other month and I did like it. Was much more 'hustleable' than our car. This thing would be on another level.

Alas, I've promised myself this first car from JLR will also be my last. SVO not helping matters with stuff like this though!

In these days of restomods and SVO, I’m eagerly looking forward to the Landrover Series III SVO autobiography. It will be great to have this engine combined with real off road ability and a classic LR look.
Closest you'll get for a while but ask very nicely with an open wallet and they might pop a series 3 body on top

I can't imagine how quick this is going to be considering I once saw a Range Rover Velar V6 out-accelerate an RS3, A45 AMG and M135i once.

I’d accept the keys if one rolled up on my drive. If speccing myself I wish this was an EV. I’m not joking.
Oh am I still on Pistonheads? Or have I strayed forth into the vast yawning chasm of despair that is Mumsnet?

I'm sure this has been requested by the "young professional" Youtubegram types and will get absolutely lapped up.

For anyone else, not so much.

I will admit, I do quite like the combination of big SUV and noisy muscley engine. It's silly and I approve.

Those exhausts though...
Exactly what I was thinking. The rest of the car isn't too bad, but the exhausts look hideous.
The exhausts alone kill my interest in this car.

Great just what we need yet another SUV shortly to be seen outside a school parked across the pavement or blocking a country lane to save the tyres getting dirty - at least this ones got an oversized exhaust to make it special.

Put the V8 in a car body please then lets talk, lets not kid ourslves this will be doing any off-roading - so why bother?

Came here for the exhaust comments as they are fking awful. I expected more abuse to be honest, is PH going soft?
I certainly can't unsee those monstrosities, totally ruins the back end.

I think the interior needs another touch screen or too, it's lacking in technology in my opinion rolleyes FFS, touchscreens for air con, driving modes and no doubt loads more, a real bugbear of mine when you can't even look at your phone screen yet it's OK to look down at an in-built screen and fiddle with settings. They need to bring in legislation to lock these screens out above 5mph.

Bit of back storey would make the article more engaging rather than just spieling off facts and figures about the car. EG where did the test take place - the background looks stunning - care to share with your readers?

Could you fit any more pathetic cliches in your short post if you tried? How many V8 high performace SUVs do you see at schools? fk all, pretty much. And just because it won't be going off road, why does that not mean that this sort of car shouldn't be available to buy if people want it? The level of hatred for SUVs on this site is utterly ridiculous and pathetic. People seem genuinely annoyed that they're for sale and that people buy them.

@ Annie JB ... that V8 is and has been available in a car body for quite a while - go visit a Jag dealership for evidence.

I first I thought it might have been a joke but sadly it seems no and really is simply a case of stupidity trying to look clever.

On the whole SUV and in particular SUVs with big engines debate PHers seem to constantly lose sight of the fact that there’s a whole big world out there beyond there little slice of Powerfully Built Directorland.

I’m currently in California, it’s a car spotters’ paradise out here and the SUV, particularly the performance SUV, is massively popular. Macans, Cayennes, G63s, SVRs, Jeep Tomahawks, GLC,GLE 63s, Urus etc etc are all over the place. I have also seen lots of Velars, a car which suits the sunshine and environs of Beverley Hills judging by how many I have seen and the size of the dealership on Sunset Boulevard

Point of the story is this - JLR is a global brand operating in a global market - that market dwarfs the U.K. aim scale, relevance and contribution, Within that small U.K. are a speck on the pin head. It’s the Americans, and the Russians, and the Chinese, and the Indians, and the Gulf states who want, and will buy, this car.

Good luck to JLR I hope, and expect, they will shift these with ease.
