As per usual 3 series fashion, the interior looks dated even though its brand new!
A premium plus spec current model C Class W205 looks far nicer inside, and the estate version outside as well.
Imho the current a-class interior with that one piece bit holding both screens looks better still.A premium plus spec current model C Class W205 looks far nicer inside, and the estate version outside as well.

Agree and I really like the interior in my GLC(apart from the daft stuck on nav screen). I find it much more interesting to sit in/look at than any BMW I've had. I also really like the A Class interior too. A premium plus spec current model C Class W205 looks far nicer inside, and the estate version outside as well.

The current MB interiors do nothing for me, and are aimed at a demograph that's 20 years younger than me. I'd still take the BMW every time.
MB interiors are very marmite from what I read on here for sure. I'd take the BMW for the driving experience(engagement wise) over the MB though. I had a couple or F series 3s. The first was in 2015, and it already looked pretty dated. The F80 I got in 2017, and that was nicer, but still dated.
The new one looks better, but still a bit meh.
I've spent time in the current E, and I really don't like it. Yet I really like the interior in the current C. Can't please me at all!
The new 3 touring looks ok, but I don't like the D pillar angles.

I feel like BMW design there cars by thinking of the future and how certain things will fare. Mercedes just revamp and redesign the whole car/interior all together going for chintzy and blingy interiors.
As for the debate I missed with Mr Rover P6, I agree that BMW have been swaying away from living up to ‘ultimate driving machine’ and the E39 is more of the ultimate driving machine but times have changed. Safety Legislations and emissions regulations have forced the car to be a little but numb but this is compared to previous BMW’s.
You’re not approaching this the right way, have a go in a new E class, A6 and 5 series and I guarantee you walking away saying the 5 series is the ‘drivers’ car.
BMW’s are still the ultimate driving machines, they just aren’t compared to older BMW’s. They are in the present when you compare to rivals.
