If they do manage an R.S. version and it had another 50hp above this R model, it would be in the ballpark of 997 Turbo/ Ford GT mk1 fast. eek

The trans would never handle it but it's just a thought.

Another article about a car that seems to provide most of what PH says it wants (low kerb weight, good handling, acceleration, decent real world economy) and another article where the first page is taken up with people finding as many faults as they can with it!

PH is getting more and more like a groundhog day version of the BBC programme grumpy old men!

Better stay away from the Bentley thread, your arse will collapse when you see how much they are charging for a Skoda.

Just a shame they couldn't have added a manual gearbox to the options list.

So no engine hardware changes? Ceramic turbo? More cooling? I would expect so for a OEM, in that case more than a remap. If not, get a remap if you already have one wink

I suppose that if you're on the waiting list, you can just upgrade to an S if you wish...

Bringing out an upgrade whilst you still have people sat on a waiting/build list for the launch model is a bit ttty in my book, unless you offer to upgrade at cost the early adopters.
This is not the case, however. All Premier Editions have been delivered. People waiting now put orders in for Pure/Legende models which were not the launch model.
I stand corrected. Thank you.

I'm like a broken record with this(and many other things! hehe) but I think it would be great if it was offered with a manual gearbox too.

Love these but out of my price range.

I’d have to be extremely loaded to buy one as a toy because at that price too many other interesting cars come into play.

Funny this. Really divisive looks, I love how it looks personally. I’ll have the poverty spec 252bhp one please, the compliancy of the suspension on that one is perfect.

Difficult to tell but I reckon it at least has the ceramic bearing turbo has even all the Megane 280 have had it since October 2018 to offset for the adoption of the particulate filter and maintain original power.

I think these are great cars as they dare to be different.
I’m sure there will be a rollout of special additions and RS models etc to keep the interest and publicity high. Seems to be the modern way.

I agree but I also think they are a minority (albeit disproportionately vocal) of "purists"/luddites who couldn't buy the cars that they slag off anyway.

No mention of that in any of the literature - and my mechanic seemed to think that I would be able to get the remap from Alpine. In any case there are already a fair few remaps that get around the 300bhp mark so I suspect it's just a remap. I did notice there was mention of 7000 rpm, so there may be a slight lift of the rev limiter - might limits at 6800.

If Alpine do offer the remap at sensible money I'll probably go for it. The engine is already very revvy unlike many turbos. Peak torque extending to 6400 revs is just what I have been asking for - but other aftermarket remaps seem intent on giving great dollops of midrange (and inevitably more lag to go with it). They are going way over the specified torque limit of the gearbox of 320nm.

There is clearly quite of a lot of demand for a more track focussed variant so I think it will sell well - but it really does need a gearbox oil cooler to cope with a heavy track day.

To be fair if you currently have a Pure or Legende on order you can convert it to an S order (unless it's already scheduled for production). There is also talk of upgrade packages for older cars, but no details yet.

Perhaps you could name an interesting car that fits the above and sells in significant numbers, apart from perhaps an MX5 I cant think of any.

I don't think there are actually that many buyers of those cars they just shout louder.

Indeed, nor in any of the Meg 280 collateral.

I agree but given the £58,700 price is now very close to the £62,300 entry price for an Exige Sport 350, if you want a very fast, lightweight car with a manual gearbox you can always buy one from Lotus, a company that have been specialising in this kind of thing since 1952.

P.s. I’m not a fan of grey cars usually, but the grey one pictured in this article looks really nice.
