Troll-much? Ha ha.
not at all, I think it's not a great 0-60 for the size of the car and power.for example:
718 Cayman GT4 - 420hp 4.4 0-60
vs
997 GT3 - 429hp 4.0 (manual gearbox)
997 Carrera 2S- 380hp 4.5 (manual gearbox)
991 Carrera S - 395hp 4.5 (manual gearbox)
991 GTS - 444hp 4.1 (manual gearbox)
lotus exige 350 - 350hp 3.7 - (manual gearbox)
re: the 718 - I drove one and hated it but this looks much more promising.

Great, a Porsche that interests me, but I won’t be allowed to buy one.
1. Tongue not brown enough
2. I don’t buy multiple Porsvhes a year because I’m a normal person
3. I’m not prepared to pay the prices the flippers charge
I am finding all the hype about fast Porsche’s pointless and irrelevant for the above reasons.
Plus , it must be bloody heavy because 0-60 in 4.4 for 420bhp isn’t great, Alpine do it with 300bhp and Lotus get the Evora 410 to 60mph in 3.9 with 410bhp.
Those performance figures look very conservative to me, unless of course the manual box is not easy to launch.. however 0-60 is not what this is about, it will have awesome dynamics and that engine will be superb.1. Tongue not brown enough

It's live on the Porsche Configurator now. I'll have mine with the 918 Buckets, Clubsport package and Ceramics please! Even at 95k optioned up it seems fairly good value for money when the 992 C2s is 93k with zero options.
Just did mine, Crayon with folding buckets, CCB's, alcantara with carbon and yellow contrasts £90k! :-) The 718 gets PASM so a guess you can make the suspension harder or softer? This will probably handle like nothing else, perhaps even better than the Cayman R.
And with a normally aspirated engine and a manual gearbox, this vs. a more expensive 992 - which I find huge and ugly- it would certainly be my pick for a new Porsche.
Only thing that would bother me is the fact that a 3 liter engine got bored out all the way to 4...
Even divided over 6 cilinders the amount of stroking surely must be some kind of record.
Which makes me wonder how this engine will go down reliability-wise.
I mean, some engines like the old E36/46 M3 engines over their lifetime were bored out until there was little metal left between the cilinders.
Surely Porsche wouldn't have gone all the way to 4 liters if things would get marginal, but still.. What do you think?
Is the 992 engine closed deck, I really don't know. Probably is.

The first gen Spyder got booked at 4.4 in some independent tests so this is probably an exercise to keep it on paper away from the 911’s in general. It will be interesting to see if pretty much anyone can get one and they make a regular production model of it. Porsche don’t seem as concerned about protecting the heritage of the 718 range but to “volume produce” 911 GT products would be commercial suicide in this sense.
Quite an interesting strategy.

Hope the rumours of regular production of this are true*, double bonus points to Porsche if they manage to do it in such a way that all the flippers can get their cars before it becomes obvious they’re not going to be limited! Quite an interesting strategy.
- with sales of the 718 having fallen off a cliff compared to the 981, there’s probably plenty of surplus capacity on the line, so I suspect they’ve designed the GT4 to be able to go down the standard line, unlike the previous model.
