The F40 and the 288 GTO for that matter are both exceptional in this context.

I could have thrown a few more n/a exotica into the mix, older Lamborghinis for starters and the McLaren F1 for the main course.

I thought GranCab was making a point of highlighting recent cars with high capacity, normally aspirated engines, that seem to be enjoying strong residuals, based on the idea that those same large capacity N/A engines are a dying breed.

The F40, doesn’t fall into that category, neither does the 288 since you mention it, and neither does the McLaren F1.  If for no other reason than the fact that they're highly appreciating cars in their own right.

Their strong residuals pre-date any idea of large capacity n/a engined cars being an endangered species.

Why would I sell my 2017 GTC Roadster with 4000 on the clock for about £100,000 to buy this. Asking for my deposit back or maybe they will decide I am not one of the lucky few to be offered a car.
