How did Audi manage to get the B7 RS4 so right and then everything else is just back to standard form?
Did they hire someone else to do that one and then they've had the usual bunch do every other RS car since?
Granted they pulled out the R8 and all of those have been wonderful but that's not the bread and butter stuff the RS cars are.
Clearly when they want to, they can do a great job so why not all the time?

Handling not as fun as rivals
Just photocopy the last review and change the digit.
However as an ex B7 RS4 owner they are cars that owners rate higher than reviewers, as the good Audi qualities become more important than an “evoness” hit a reviewer is looking for on a 2 day welsh jolly
I’m not sure why nobody likes these, I think it looks fantastic. I haven’t driven one so I can’t comment but I don’t see how this can be viewed as ‘boring’ or ‘too clinical’.
The RS5, especially the sport back as I love the hunched rear of it is one of my dream cars. I considered one of these a few months ago but they were just too pricey and none of them were anywhere near my budget, so if residuals were good, it obviously means Audi are doing something right. I asked the Audi salesman why and he said it’s because they had been taken off sale due to the WTLP.
Who am I to judge as I have nowhere near the amount of knowledge car journos have but I feel as if they grab the keys of whatever it is and thrash the living life out the car, try drift it and drive the car in a way they wouldn’t drive their own, then say it’s boring or too accomplished when it can’t drift or sounds too quiet. The M4 sounds crap at low revs unless you really rev it out in which case you’d lose or licence. The C63 is a V8 so it’s naturally going to sound better, I haven’t heard the Gulia’s but judging by YouTube, it’s the same situation as the M4. I’ve heard an RS5 and it is muted and quiet but there’s a silky V6 noise to it that’s very satisfying, over time, this car will definitely grow onto anyone.
The RS5/RS4 with the 2.9 V6’s and new tech could be truly the best all rounders, do it all fast cars in their class and even above.

I went to drive one of these yesterday, so it was interesting to see PH reviewed them 10 days ago.
Having turned up in the Elise, the steering felt absolutely fine. Not sure there's a better compliment I can give it than that. Obviously it's a very different animal.
Pace was very impressive, interior is fantastic (but we knew that already, Audi interiors are always decent) and the level of kit is crazy - you can only add about £1500 to the base car in this Sport Edition (not that there are any factory builds for customers, they're already built, so it's a good job they're decent spec). As a GT-type car it's perfect. At 1.7 tons it's never going to be a track car, more a comfortable mile muncher. Given limited supply it should hold its money well.
All in all I was very impressed.
