RE: Mini reveals JCW GP prototype at N24

There’s pictures of the underneath online now as well. 100% is not AWD.
It will probably be slower to 60 compared to the AWD Clubman and SUV.
That ring time is pretty impressive though for a FWD MINI. I mean it’s only a second or so behind an F430.

I’m not very knowledgeable on track work and the things needed for a car to have a fast lap but I thought this Mini would have a better lap time than this considering how light it is with 300 bhp and an auto gearbox

It's front wheel drive and auto only - that has been confirmed on other news outlets.
Cheers good Dr.I won't believe anything until it's official! A bit like the new GT4, there was 215 pages of speculation before last week!
Lots of news outlets have it from the horses mouth....

The Trophy R Megane 300 got a 7.40 so seems consistent with that. I don't think the auto box makes such a difference compared to a manual in expert hands. A greater differential would be the tyres but also track conditions etc... Not sure what the weight difference is between the two cars, probably not as much as their respective sizez would make you think.I’m not very knowledgeable on track work and the things needed for a car to have a fast lap but I thought this Mini would have a better lap time than this considering how light it is with 300 bhp and an auto gearbox
I was expecting this to be north of £40k given what a boggo JCW comes in at by the time you've ticked a few options. Not sure if I'd take this at 35k or the JCW challenge from a couple of years back at 23-25 but definitely looks reasonable value and should fall under the magic £40k mark with some creature comforts added.
Why not make it 4WD too then you can have yet another pointless car. Mini used to make great fun nimble cars especially with the R53 Cooper S but then they've just got bigger and more useless with each new model. Why is it auto is it because a Mini is now really hard to drive or is it because BMW can just slot in a generic powertrain.
This is one of the most marketing focused cash grabbing cars I've ever seen and it makes me sick.
