Can someone help me out, please? I don't know whether to buy the 90 or the 110 as I can't be sure if I'm a young, affluent, fun-seeking individual or a coupled-up, self-employed adventurer. hehe

Doesn’t matter in the UK, this car will be defined by monthly cost on finance, Carpe yearly rates and what you can have one for on Liquid/ The Out rentals if it is heading for a bit saggy.

They are intending to offer an Authentic Pack at launch. This will comprise vinyl seats, delete audio and centre storage box, 6J x 18" white painted steel wheels, upholstered side facing rear benches (not allowed to call them seats apparently). Choice of Cotswold Green, Marine Blue or Fuji White with contrast black or white roof, fixed towbar and rubber floor mats embossed with a L/R Authentic logo.

Price is likely to be £3500 to £5000 above standard.

I'd missed this thread up to now, but coincidentally I've just been speaking to someone who is on the product planning team for this at JLR.

They were obviously very cagey but one thing that I did pick up on is that they are intending to offer an Authentic Pack at launch. This will comprise vinyl seats, delete audio and centre storage box, 6J x 18" white painted steel wheels, upholstered side facing rear benches ( not allowed to call them seats apparently ) Choice of Cotswold Green, Marine Blue or Fuji White with contrast black or white roof, fixed towbar and rubber floor mats embossed with a L/R Authentic logo.

They aren't sure whether to produce it as a Launch Edition or a series production model, in either case price is likely to be £3500 to £5000 above standard.

Hopefully this should provide some reassurance for those wanting a traditional rather than blingy Land Rover.
Ive been thinking about your post for a while and I still dont know if its a spoof or not biggrin

Rather like when the kids asked if Marks and Spencer really did put chemicals in their ready meals that make you feel middle class

As I said in the other thread, I’m not sure that isn’t a clay mock up.

If it is the production car then it isn’t great. Look at how the front wing interfaces with the “bumper” - no way of fitting a bullbar and the wing is really exposed to damage off-road.

Plus huge wheels and low profile tyres.

If it is the real thing it is very soft-road and obviously designed for posing around cities in the US and China rather than the workhorse it is named after.

However, that may be a good thing for LR from a profitability point of view. I read that the US are very keen on getting the Defender for example.

Anyone buying one of the first ones has huge bks - early cars from any manufacturer are always a bit iffy, and this one is coming from LR AND a brand new factory.

Bullbars will go through the bullbar slot in the bumper - £2000 option and will do nothing....

Wings will only ever be damaged by clipping cycles, shopping trolleys or other cars, no-one will ever take this 'off road' other than onto the cities verges at school drop off and pick up.

Yes it's a city car, quite obviously.

Low profile tires are so much better though are they not, sod the comfort, bugger the expense as long as it looks good!

It's all about sales and money and why wouldn't it be?

Shame however.

There is certainly a market for the Defender in the US, Jeep are selling 25,000 a month of the new model JL Wrangler, but not at anywhere near the prices that we’ve seen suggested.

The figures show 110 and 130 seem to have the same wheelbase. So the one foot extra length of the new 130 all come from the rear overhang? But the sketches on top suggest 130 has a longer wheelbase and similar rear overhang compare to the 110. Which one is correct?

Folk hoping for £30k pricing might be disappointed as I'm fairly sure I read a piece on here talking about £70k for the higher-spec models. Add on the usual extras and we could be looking at a £100k Defender.
The Ineos Grenadier is a lot more in tune with the 'hose it down' farmer-spec philosophy. They are talking more about £30k.
With a BMW powertrain and the cost of establishing a new brand to pay back I will eat my hat and yours if the Ineos is £30k.

They said that about the Disco 5...and then one appeared.

I think they will do one after a year or so.

The 90 is a civilised way to tell the wife to pack her bags. The 130 seems to be aimed at affluent, sophisticated child traffickers.

The 110 seems to be the sweet spot for people not into trafficking children and good looking enough to find a partner.
