Theres a video somewhere of someone with a standard block Lexus v8 (for all of £500), pushing twin turbos, and around 1400 bhp. I think it was Sweden, maybe, and was doing a 0-300 kph run.
Much love for these, and the new ones look great.
I've worked with the guy !Much love for these, and the new ones look great.
P.s. as much Ultima coverage as possible please PH!
I had a potter in one of these with the owner.
I have never driven a car that attracts so much curtain twitching and potential disapproval. I could have been driving at 20 mph in a 30 and people would have accused me of speeding. It was probably the big wing and race numbers on the car but , still, i wonder if the times are changing.

Any info you have would be great to hear.
Having been ferried around the 'ring and Spa in one of these, I can confirm they are face-meltingly quick.
We broke 160mph on the (uphill) kemmel straight at Spa, in the damp, and still made the Chicane.
He took my Mrs it in around Silverstone National and she was a stunned mess after a 20min stint

I can imagine her reaction when I went for a ride in one I wanted to kiss the ground afterwards but put my man pants on and said it was awesome We broke 160mph on the (uphill) kemmel straight at Spa, in the damp, and still made the Chicane.

5 of us were out for a breakfast meet and run at the weekend. Have to say that all the attention, even from the boys in blue (and inevitably when you have 5 cars looking like they've taken the wrong turn off a racetrack there is a lot of attention) was totally positive and enthusiastic. Not really the car to for the shrinking violet tho.I have never driven a car that attracts so much curtain twitching and potential disapproval. Did they miss the illegal front plate then? Turbobanana said:

Doubt it unless they thought it was hidden in plain sight. I guess they were just car enthusiasts and probably had better things to be concerned with. Not an unreasonable approach methinks.Strictly speaking I guess all the front plates are illegal in that they're not mounted vertically. Hey ho.

Finally! I've always wanted to know more about that project. Do you kno wanything about the turbo setup? Who did the fabrication work, etc? Anything about the cost of the engine setup (in total)? Really curious, because I saw that years ago, and always thought that was just the most extreme setup, but that it must be cost effective too, since the Lexus engine has 4 bolt mains, and is balanced to within an inch of its life, etc, and even on the off chance something goes wrong, you just replace it with another £500 donk. Seemed like a great solution.

Sorry for the big let down. We worked together in IT, and he built this after he left for a job in motor sport. I understand he owns a helicopter now.Any info you have would be great to hear.
I'm still in IT
Only ever seen one of these in the flesh, the owner of which I knew reasonably well as he owned a local performance car garage
Took me for a (very) short ride on an indisutrail estate
Acceleration?
All I can say was in the time it took me to say ‘faaaaark me!’ as he hit the (very) loud pedal, we were doing 60mph.
And stopping from that speed felt like he had hit a parked and invisible lorry.
Mental mental chicken oriental.....

Might have been nice to mention that whilst Ultima as a company was founded in 1992, the car had actually been in existence since the early 80's having been designed and built by Lee noble and then sold to Ultima.
I seem to remember Lee Noble racing it in the Kit Car series in the 80's. There was 3 of them I think, two with LS engines and one with a RV8 engine (he soon changed to a LS engine as couldn't keep up). Needless to say they were at the front of the field.I remember a well-publicised fatal crash involving one of these
