Yet, they seem far less highly strung than the green eyed posters on this thread. Most brands attract a similar proportion of knob ends, but probably not as many as SUV threads on PH
Couldn't agree more. There's a bunch of these around here (admittedly a large Chinese neighborhood close to Toronto) but not sure why that's an issue for folk. I like them, especially the x6m variant. I would imagine this engine is also pretty good. Fair play to the people that spend their money on what they like regardless of what poor people think. But for you to assume that those who dislike are jealous / poor people, says a lot more about you and your values than the other commentators on this thread.
There are plenty on here who could afford one, but they don’t like the product concept, so spend their money elsewhere whilst ridiculing this car. And there will be people who can’t afford one, but that doesn’t make their opinions any less valid. Give those people a euromillions cheque and they will still hold the same opinion and not buy one. For you to think that the dislikers secretly love it but just can’t afford it is... well... like I say, that says more about you.
Just saying.

What a pretty and environmentally responsible vehicle, I look forward to seeing this doing what it's designed for, whatever that is, smooth off roading between house and school?
Will that do?
Please can you give the environmental harping a short break? Even just for 1 day? Will that do?

Apologies for any misunderstanding.

Do customers across the UK lease or buy this vehicle?
Neither. They dominate the dealership until the salesman gives it to them.(I've seen many X6M50ds, but have honestly never seen one being driven by someone who didn't fulfill the criteria of a PH powerfully-built director type, with the sort of ruddy complexion that can only be achieved from taking one's morning cornflakes with Baileys, adding scotch to the morning coffee, polishing off a jeroboam of White Lightning for lunch and then spending the afternoon shouting at traffic.)

Quite why those people who don't like them feel the need to use terrible clichés for those who do like them is beyond me, though. Say you don't like them, yes, fine.... Say you think it looks hideous, fine..... Say "coming to a school near you for a kid who lives 1/2 mile from school where it won't ever be used off road etc" and that's just pathetic.
Exactly my point, totally agree. You don't like the way it looks, no problem, me too. It doesn't drive how you like, sure. But pathetic comments about school runs, fake tans, being a bell end because you drive the brand or a type of vehicle you dont like, well that says lots about the person commenting. So I will follow suit and say the anti-BMW or fancy SUV folk are generally poor and should have studied harder so that they could afford what they really want as opposed to can only afford. These threads always turn into prick fests as opposed to actually chatting about what the cars are like.

But that's exactly how a lot of SUV's are used. And a significant proportion of their drivers either (i) struggle to drive them properly in tight spaces (ii) barrel through narow gaps regardless or (iii) both.Yesterday it was a mum in a Lexus SUV who managed to block a narrow side road, refused to reverse and made me reverse almost the entire length of the street, the day before it was Mrs X5 mounting pavements and being utterly incapable of doing a parallel park.
I also know plenty of totally normal people who drive them well and can actually park them but there is a significant minority who are a PITA for everyone else.
Is it the camera angles, possibly my failing eyesight, or is the ground clearance on these 'fashion' 4x4's getting less and less with each new model released?
I recently noticed it in the new Audi Q2 and Q3 models. They barely sit any higher up than the respective A3 and A4.
Are the engineering teams for these vehicles begining to realise, that they dont need to jack them up, because the most off road thing most of them ever do, is to drive over a twig, or a partcularly big leaf at the end of the driveway.
Oh, and the mis-used apostrophe in "4x4's" is deliberate. Its for all those exciting people on here, who like to counter someones point by pulling them up on their grammar. I dont want you feeling left out now.
