Just about every sports bike engine for the last 30 years or more. Don't forget to restrict the question to cars. smile

This meets almost all of the PH forum criteria:
  • Manual gearbox - check (sequential counts right?)
  • Light weight - check
  • Quick - check
  • Available brand new for less than 30k - um...
If only it were cheaper. Could we not have the same single-seat concept and looks but with spaceframe, GRP and the engine, brakes and suspension from a Mondeo? Or have those days passed? *wistful stare into the distance*

There are single seater kit cars out there, but if you're expecting them to have anything like the build quality or looks of the BAC you're going to be sorely disappointed. hehe

I'd settle for half way between the two.

"oh yes sir, we make many different cars, you can choose freely between red ones, blue ones and even green ones"........ ;-)

Eh? Plenty of n/a cars have had >345bhp. Or am I missing something?
Specific output means per litre. So 345/2.5 = 138bhp/l.

Seems that someone has forgotten about the Light Car Company Rocket, which was road legal and had a 160bhp/litre bike engine.

Hmm how many of those actually made it into customers hands? I think you need to draw the line somewhere. BAC while low volume are a functioning, successful and now long running business.
It seems 55 were made, almost twice the planned production of the Mono R.

Just 30 Mono Rs are set to be built, with the entire production run having been exclusively available to existing BAC customers - before it sold out, that was, which is already has.
The fact that 30 people who already had a BAC Mono in the garage have gone back and put a deposit down for this one probably says a great deal about the quality of the product.

Name another naturally aspirated engine that makes 138bhp / litre (or more).

Pretty much exact same price as the new Dallara? Now there's a choice for you (though my theoretical moolah would be heading to Italy!). wink

If they're in a car, they're a car engine!

Might mean a sudden rush of 30 on the secondary market also. Price crash? Or am I hoping too much.

Will they ever build a Tandem or Duo? A Duo might even keep most of the MONO cars looks.

But apart from the Ariel Atom V8, LCC Rocket, Westfield Megabusa and Westfield Megablade, what have the Romans ever done for us definitely the highest specific output NA road car ever.

hehe

Not knocking the Mono, I think it's absolutely fantastic, just the PH copy.
