It's two bike engines! But it's in a car. So it's a car engine.

Well it sort of is - the heads were lifted straight from the Hayabusa with minimal modification and consequently the block owed most of its dimensions to the 'busa as well. There's a few V8s constructed in similar ways and of course they are not bike engines in that the engine itself was never actually in a bike, but the design still owes an awful lot to the donor unit.

Fabulous unit either way.

I did not know that, thank you.

Is one of these really 2-3x better than 620R with the same power to weight ratio?

I have never really got what these offer over and above stuff like an Atom?
The fact that they have sold out suggests that enough people think so.

Thanks for that revelation, Gordon Murray.

Attention PH - Can we stop the pointless attempts to one up each other in the knowledge stakes. It makes every thread a pissing contest. Correcting people when necessary is fine but needlessly seeking out comments to misinterpret them for the sake of a quick win is growing tiresome

this would be my perfect retirement car - trailer it to tracks all over Europe and live a very contented life...due to funds i think it will be more likely going to be a Caterham though...

Highly developed aero. Carbon construction. The R&D cost alone compared to a Caterham must be huge.
The mono only has cf panels. It does not have a carbon fibre monocoque unlike say the KTM X bow.

Thanks, Adrian Newey. I didn't say it had a carbon monocoque.

But carbon construction would generally be a term used to describe a composite chassis car rather than a space frame. It's also not got any aero to speak of, developed or otherwise, beyond some basic anti lift stuff. Mono is a zero downforce car by design.

The design seems a bit less elegant than the original. But I still love it.
Still the first thing in my lottery win garage.

I'm a big fan of these cars.
Had the pleasure of being on track alongside two of them at Donington a few years back.
Really quick and also very well finished, made the multitude of Caterhams on the same track day look like something from the dark ages.
